Hello support forum.
since a few days I'm 'proud' user of a new Xperia XA1 Dual SIM.
But in this short time it already gave me some headache.
Issue 1:
From my former hardware i got used to use my phone to listen to music or audiobooks while working or studying in librarys and NEVER had the issue I have with this new piece:
While my headset or headphones are plugged in, notification sounds, like ringtones or message like from whatsapp or SMS or similar still are being played through the main speaker (thanks to that now I nearly lost membership of a very strikt but good library, just a 2 week ban). I think the earphone jack is in order (brand new phone and fast response when plugging in the jack or taking it out with otherwise perfect funktionality - microphone, speaker, soundquality and while playing music without headset and then plugging them in it turns the musik on the speakers off and continues it on headset as intended) also the earphones are clearly in good working condition because i testet them also on my computer and my old smartphone, where this problem doesnt occur.
Maybe its some weird setting in the phone, which i wouldnt understand because since the invention of these jacks they where constructed that way, that it would disconnect the connection to the speakers on hardwarelevel, which on the other hand contradicts the fact, that only notifications are played on speakers while headset is connected o.O. So how do i set my phone that way, that it doesnt play speakersounds while headphones are connected?
2: On my old phone i was used to the option (i think some standard Android option aswell) where you could plug your phone via USB to a computer and so being able to use the computers internet connection, which at home or at work would make much sense, since WIFI isnt always available, mobile internet can get expensive and the phone already offers the option of 'tethering' which i think is something simmilar, but only with the option of preparing the internet of the phone to a PC (which is weird because our current internet still works bi-directional..)
So how can i share the internetconnection of my PC with my Phone? Are there some USB-C Lan cables for smartphones?
3.There are some Apps preinstalled on the phone, which i cannot uninstall, like Facebook (Privacylawsuit!?), AmazonShopping, WhatsNew (cant even be deactivated) and Musik (using a, imho, better App).
So how to get rid of this junk?
Regards,
John
Hi @DonLovo;
Welcome to the Forum;
Regarding your questions let me see if I can help you:
1-To not hear any notification sound even with the headphones connected you must turn on the Do Not Disturb mode, see here:https://support.sonymobile.com/gb/xperiaxa1/userguide/do-not-disturb-mode-settings/;
2-To share the internet of the PC you can use for example the Hot Spot function of it, in resume it shares the internet connection by means of WiFi;
3-Unfortunately there is no way of normally uninstall some pre-installed apps like the ones you refer, but as you say they can be however deactivated.
Regards.
Hi and thank you for your effort.
for 1) The do not disturb option I tried in in the meantime..its not what I need, it just turns off all notifications, on speakers and on headphones. I mean when i plug the headphones, I just want the speakers deactivated, but want to hear the notification on the headphones, like some simple rerouting.
As for 2) I don't have a wireless router or access point, just cables. And there is USB-Tethering, but i cannot manage my phone to use the Internet via this tethering option. Found some 'Reverse tethering apps, which would need the phone to be rooted. As its new and in waranty - no option)
3) Well not everything can be deactivated like this 'Whats new', reminding me everyday about new games and such stuff (well set it up now to not display anything in the options now..)
Hi @DonLovo;
1) There is probably some app in Google Play that can disable the notification sounds only in the speakers;
2)What I was suggesting was the Hot Spot function of the PC, in Windows 10 go to settings >network and internet >mobile hot spot >turn on and you can share the internet of your PC with other devices;
3)I was going to suggest turning the notifications of in the settings of the What's New app, but I see you already found that out.
Hope to have helped.
Regards.
1) So Sony doesnt offer such an app? And this bug doesnt annoy anyone else?
I found something in the forums, an app called Smart Connect from Sony, which doesnt seem to work perfectly my device and an app called SoundAbout, which sadly isnt compatible with Oreo 😕
2) my PC doesnt have WiFi-card(mobile Network), just cable. Thats why im asking about the basic Android option USB-Internet (tethering, but just the other way around).
Sadly I'm running Win7 & Linux (didnt try there).
But meanwhile i found something: https://github.com/Genymobile/gnirehtet , if anyone is interested.
Well thanks for your trying.
