KD-50X80L has bright area in centre of screen

I have a new Sony Bravia KD-50X80LU.

The centre of the screen has a much brighter halo (oval area) which is unwatchable.

I've tried various settings to change this, but it just does not change.

Changed brightness, contrast, picture mode, ambient light sensor.....

The TV is effectively unusable with the picture quality like this.

Any ideas from other Bravia users would be gratefully received.

Only three days old, was it bought new. Was  it like that from day one.

Take it back, under your consumer rights you are entitled to a replacement or a full refund.

Don't take any flannel.

Hey @seanclarke

Sorry to hear you're facing this with a newly purchased TV. You have like 14 days with point of sale to return the product if it's faulty, if you bought it from a 3rd party retailer.

And I believe 28 days with Sony if you bought it directly from them, you definitely have the right to replace it.

No amount of fiddling about with the settings will improve your screen.

It has a serious fault.

Is the  Tv still under warranty, if so contact whoever your warranty is with and get them to replace it.

If it is not under warranty a repair would probably be to expensive a new TV would be a better option.

Sadly I feared this - it's only three days old....

I shall be returning it.

We have returned and had replaced our TV. It was a fault with the screen.

We now have a shiny new one and all is good with that one.
