What can't I do to prevent battery drain? Just update to android 8.0
There is an option within gsam battery app to grant additional privileges, that cannot be given as regular permissions, but via adb . You might want to check that.
Now, I'm aware of your lack of interest in X , but this could be useful for any phone you move to.
So look at it that way, a general knowledge gained for a minute's work.
And to some point I also agree with your stance that regular user shouldn't pay that much attention and troubleshoot, but with battery, quite a lot of time it's on user and issue, or rogue app more specific.
I found the culprit:auto sync data. And the battery monitor app confirms it. Don't know how the update messed up with the settings but I guess I have to turn the auto sync off for now.
After the new update of my software, the battery is discharging quickly .... Why?
Après la nouvelle mise à jour de mon logiciel, la batterie se décharge rapidement.... Pourquoi?

Salve, da quando ho aggiornato il telefono a oreo 8 il mio smartphone si scarica velocemente. È un problema solo mio? Se no, come avete risolto?
Hello, since I updated the phone at 8 o'clock my smartphone is quickly downloaded. Is this a problem only mine? If not, how did you solve it?

Anyone has figured out any fix for the masssive battery drain of Xperia X which updated from Nougat to Oreo? I have been experiencing fast draining of battery since i updated to Oreo. Full-charged phone only lasts 4-5 hours.
Its not widespread as one would think. A lot of us have no unusual drain at all.
Try with previous advices given across board, Strampke linked a few above.
Maybe it's an app which is not adequately updated for Oreo. Try safe mode and see if there is such drain. Although I hate to troubleshoot battery in safe mode, makes no sense, but still, might confirm.
