VGN Boot up Problem

VGN Boot up Problem

I've had an s-series VGN-SIHP for 6 months now and it has worked fine.

Recently when I power up the laptop the machine does not start. The fan starts and you can here internal noises but the VAIO symbol does not appear on the screen. The only way to get the laptop on is to power on/off via the pwr switch 10 - 20 times, eventually the VAIO symbol appears on the screen and it starts as normal.

Can anyone offer advise on this, Cheers....

It is a hardware problem of some sort but it could be one of many.
I would start by checking out the memory. If you are unsure of how to access the RAM have a look at your on-line
manual.

And then see this thread for further instructions.

I would have VAIO Link check it out.

Hi!

I have EXACTLY the same problem since March 9th!!! :slight_frown:
And I have to notice there are quite a few people in this forum who started having the same symptoms with their VAIOs between March 8th and March 10th!!!! What the HELL is this?

Some sort of virus messing up the hardware really badly??!?
What coudl it be?

Mine refuses to boot or freezes after booting if I move/TILT it...!!! Noticed similar behaviour with yours?

My device is a bit older - 18 months now...

Does anyone have any idea what this might be? I find it odd that several VAIOs, diffenrent models, located in different countries start having the same problem at about the same time... Sony BIOS bug?!?

it looks like there is hardware fault either contact vaio link or take the risk to try to fix it ur self. but if it is not the ram or HDD and something inside the laptop that you dont have acess to easly then contact vaio.

mine does this when my external HDD is pluged in. when i remove its fine, then just plug it back in after

Hi!

Well... What could I do about the HDD?!? I have no spare HDDs lying around here and - unlike the RAM - they've put only one piece into it... :slight_frown:

Greets!
