Recovery CD ( What does it do really )

I have a Product Recovery CD for a PCV-RX302

When i use this, which is normally every 3 months or so depending.

I allways choose Restore to Factory Default ( Original Shipped State ) & does this erase any viruses that u have & does it totally delete all info on both partitions & choose differnt partitions settings than default 35 - 5 ratio
Does it Delete like it says it does & meaning zapping any viruses & adware allong the way????

Few m8 ov mine say it dunt do sh*t but i disagree, when i do a restore using recovery disc i allways get my PC back to top performace in gaming & general running of the o/s system.3dgfx.com

i test this theory by running a 3dmark & a PCMark test b4 & after a recovery nad get some interesting results3dgfx.com

oh yeh stranget that im writing this now cos im just about to undertake this very same procedure in next 24hrs maybe asi just got my router back from ebuyer[:">] ( cr*p customer care )
& have been using a Hub to network all our PCs in our pad from my LAN card into a 5 way hub ( MY PC On 24/7 )

Yes it does, it erases everything on the disk, so thats viruses and adware.

The only viruses it won't remove are memory resident ones, but they don't usually bother reinstallations.

yes indeed it does restore your pc but i doubt you are meant to do it as much as you said that seems a little over the top you should only do it if you really really need to like say if a file became currup in windows

Yes but what bout all program sh*t that u get installing & uninstalling all time, & explain the difference in performance if its only worth doing when a file is corrupt??

Id do a restore for the feel of a fresh XP and putt all my fav program of the moment back on my pc one by one

Bout a 1.5hour process turnaround with install all gadgets & Broadbroad & Network/Routers etc.

its worth it tho, trust!

hmm seems a little ott doing it every three months. I usually restore to factory setting once a year. Might be a better idea to just try some system tweaks and maintance

try http://www.blackviper.com/ for the tweaks, has a lot

and defraging and cleaning the registry should keep your system running at it's peak.

in the other post that someone posted about getting a new drive and having the sonic stage files moved or something...

you mentioned that you had five partitions on one drive no wounder your system is slacking

every time you make a partition the system sort of treats it like a new drive and therefore is slower

this is why it is highly reccommended to strip your drives (if you have two the same ) it improves system performance 10fold because the computer is thinking that two drives are one

next time you go through your little restore cycle
make just two partitions both the same size....
also
you are just installing programs on your system drive arnt you thsi should only be used for this purpose and should really be kept at a 80% free level for your system to be running at its full protential

also you say that you are uninstalling and installing appz all the time you should check your disk every time you do this for frangmentation

i bet if you mentained your pc in proper order then you wouldnt need to waste time restoreing

and another thing about always restoring

if you keep recording over a video tape it eventually gets shuch bad quality it is un useable

i know it might seem like you are gettin g great performance this is only because at first nothing is installed

i dont choose the size of my 200gig in my Recovery Program.
i choose 2 partitions C: & 😧

Also u sayin that its cos its a fresh install that the PC feels as quick, which is True.

But also what about the time it would take unistalling all my programs 1 by 1& doin a Defrag & a Virus check!

u Try that in a hour and half kid, as u know the actual Windows Recovery takes bout 15min so for all the hassle that u think its doin a restore from recovery disc, your option seems the strange one.

& No matter how much u tweak defrag uninstall & Delete unwanted file music mp3 document & not to mention viruses.

Are u gonna be 100% that u PC is working to 100% MAX POTEN?

Dont think so

wow this forum is Fun, i like to bitch & share knowlage, all tho i could be talking crap!

Oh & i do maintain my PC, cheeky B**ger:smileywink:

well you could probably get it a lot faster then what a restore can do. I'm using 10GB on my C and 20GB on my D now. It came with 4GB of stuff on the C and nothing on the D. My PC runs one hell of a lot faster because of tweaking and keeping it clean.

15 minutes to get your PC back up and running? I find that hard to believe. What about the software you need to install that didn't come with the software. Not to mention all the windows updates, virus defintions and all the other software updates.
