Does anyone know where I can download all the drivers I need to Upgrade From Windows XP Home Edition to Professional Edition? On vaio-link.com support center I cannot find all the drivers and I cannot also find the bundle applications.
Thanks in advance
Marco
Sony don't make any drivers specifically for XP Pro........they don't seem to encourage you to upgrade at all anyway. The best thing to do is put the contents of yourC:/Drivers folder onto a CD. Upgrade to Pro using your Windows disk and then see if anything doesn't work. Most if not all of what you have should need nothing new, but if something doesn't work simply reinstall the driver. The originals are available at www.vaio-link.com in the Original Drivers Bundle, along with whatever updates are available separately.
Any device drivers that are needed should be in the c:\drivers folder after a full recovery. Burn the folder to a disk before installing XP Pro.
Thanks for your answer, but...
you are saying I must reinstall my old OS for having drivers, and perhaps there is no way to reinstall the bundle application... aren't you?
If that's true... well... what a bad support!!! I cannot believe Sony doesn't let me download drivers for my notebook, and no bundle applications too... I must write a letter to Sony invoking their shame for this bad customer service... I cannot believe I'm the only one in the world that needs to upgrade his OS so it is absurd they does not give me drivers in a easyer way than reinstalling back my old OS...
If it is so, i think I will buy no more at Sony even if my notebook is a pretty good notebook.
Couldn't agree more, but Rob and Tyger are not Sony Support staff, they are volanteers.
I agree that the software and drivers should be on a separate DVD to the OS, but getting Sony to understand this is very difficult.
You aren't the first to say that, you won't be the last.
At this very moment I have opened a support case asking how to alter some of the software that comes on the recovery disk because it doesn't provide an uninstallation option. It's a real pig of a problem cos it's Norton Antivirus (a big pain to manually uninstall), and what's more if I ever have to reinstall Windows I'm going to have to go through it all again more than likely.
As much as I love my Vaio I'm not buying another Sony until they get their act together on this and one or two other issues. It's so sad cos they are such nice computers.
Tyger,
I found on the modern VAIOs if you uninstall NIS then NAV goes with it.
I want to keep the firewall it's a better product than the Antivirus software is. I don't think eSupport is having an easy time of it either they still haven't given me a solution 5 days later lol.
I personally don't think it can be done.
The packages seem to be stuck together - like an Internet Security Suite.
