Hi I recently bought an AR41s but the nvidia drivers that come with it are old and cause problems when trying to use DX10 I try to upgrade them with the new forceware but it says I don't have any compatible hardware. So how am I supposed to update the drivers since there are no new ones on the sony website.
Hi BurnSpeed and welcome to Club Vaio.
Sony will not update the official nVidia drivers until they have carried out extensive testing. This means they will be out of date before they are released.
There are some risks with loading unofficial drivers - but not many, just check your Vaio does not overheat. Any problems and you can roll-back to the previous driver.
You will find the latest Beta driver 162.18 HERE AT LAPTOPVIDEO2GO.COM
I AM ASSUMING YOU ARE USING VISTA 32-BIT !!!!!
1. Download the Driver to a temporary folder
2. Download the Modded .INF to another temporary folder (without this the driver will not install as you have already found out). This modded .inf does support your nVidia GeForce 8600M GT
3. I'm not sure if the Driver is downloaded as an .EXE file or as a .ZIP file. If an .EXE just double click on it and run it to extract the files to a folder of your choice (C:\nVidia?). If a .ZIP then right-click on it and choose "Extract All" to a folder of your choice (C:\nVidia).
4. Copy the Modded .INF (nv_disp.inf) to C:\nVidia overwriting any other .INF
5. Go to Device Manager and expand Display Adapters
6. Right-click on your nVidia GeForce 8600M GT and choose 'Update Driver'
7. Say no to automatic update and choose to install manually -> have disc -> browse to C:\nVidia and install.

Thanks alot for the help. Appreciate it.
800MHZ Front End Bus up from 667 I bet that baby rips along...to be honest the blu ray movies from certain studios need the bus speed boost as for example the full screen BD Norbit from Dreamworks on my Ar31s struggled to keep frame rate and sync despite playing BD Ghost Rider from Sony pictures in letter box perfectly even on me HD 720p projector (1080i) settings.
