Bluetooth not recognised

Morniong all!
I have a FE11S VAIO. I'm having problems with my bluetooth.
My computer doesn't seem to recognise it's existence, even in 'control panel - Printers and Other Hardware - Bluetooth Local COM. It says 'The blue tooth device is not ready.

If I try and search for devices, before it even searches, I get this message:
'Cannot use connection type. Check that all the needed hardware, software and drivers are available.

The blue light and bluetooth logo seem to light up as windows starts up, and though goes off......
I am stuck... can you help?
Thanks loads
Mike

In your notification area you should have a green icon with the text LAN on it. Double click on it in there you should see the option ENABLE or DISABLE bluetooth. If you can't find the green icon you should have folder in start-->programs-->LAN Setting Utility.....if you don't have anything of this you should go to run en type: msconfig and go to tab Services and enable all options in there and restart laptop and you should have the options written here above.

I hope you are using the windows Sony installed for you...otherwise I cant help you. You will need drivers etc a long story.

Also don't forget to turn on the wireless switch, otherwise you will not see the LAN icon in the system tray.
