Hi, I'm having some serious issues with my Xperia S. For the last few weeks it has slowly been deteriorating but today it all went wrong, the touch screen had a mind of it's own, the volume was going up and down, it was calling people, it wouldn't lock and it took about 2 minutes for the phone to do a hard shut down. The whole time I was holding the reset buttons I was having to keep pressing cancel call.
When I switched it back on it was in safe mode and it still is, currently I can't lock it, the volume is stuck on mute and it's being a general pain in the arse
The other thing it does is it goes into emergency call in my pocket, never dialed an emergency number but I'm not keen on it.
Sadly, due to work issues, I can't afford a new phone at the moment and I need it to work for any work related calls.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hello again, it wouldn't let me sign in again so had to create a new account.
I backed up and it started restoring but stopped, now it wont restore because the software is newer than the software on my device, it is still on 4.1 so I'm not sure why that's happening.
The phone seems to be working ok and isn't in safe mode but it goes through phases and might just go mad again in a few hours.
Thanks for the help.
keep us updated, if your phone slows down it could be an app acting up
You said to keep updated and I didn't. This week I got my dad's old iPhone 4, which is in the process of being unlocked.
I do like Android but the Sony was the second was that let me down, the first was a Samsung Galaxy something or other. I am going to keep the Sony but just as a mini tablet, because the Android Market is much better than the Apple App Store and the games are HD on the Sony.
Anyway, the Sony. It kept trying to make emergency calls, only dialed a couple of time but it was just random numbers, it did once do about a dozen nines which was a bit worrying. The top layer of the screen just stopped working which was very annoying. It sometimes freezes, sometimes calls my friends from my pocket, it likes Facebook statuses, including a slightly scary ex going from 'in a relationship to single', which was awkward. The water damage marker went red and it's not been water damaged to my knowledge. Oh, and the speaker broke. I did like the phone and may have just got a bad one.
