Xperia Arc S ICS update failure

Hi,

I have been trying to update my Arc S to ICS using pc companion and sus, however, both applications do nothing, other than hang my PC completely. I then have to power down the (crash) the system each time. I have disabled all AV / Firewall software and it still crashes my system. On both applications, I get to the point where it says, "hold the back button down whilst attaching the USB", then it crashes. I am using a standard PC with MS XP.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Kind Regards,

Sean.

In that case, perform it in Safe Mode. Reboot phone, keep tapping F8 till a Safe Mode Menu appears. Select Safe Mode with Network and proceed with update using either PC Companion or Update Service.

If still unsuccessful, source for another PC ....

Thanks, I have thought of this, however, I don't have another to do it on. There are no issues with this PC with any other devices(I have many) I do have an android pad (no usb)...thats it! Any other suggestions would be welcome.

Hi kinezzr, that would only mean that the update is not released for your phone yet.

Yeah, I figure that could be the reason, although I did check my SI number on SE update list for ICS and it's on it, or maybe that have nothing to do with it ??? Anyhow thank you for helping me out, I guess patience will solve my problem than
