Speakers stop working when phone heats up

After using GPS while charging or playing games on the phone for about 30 minutes the phone heats up. When it's a bit warmer (not dangerously hot), the phone's speakers stop working - only high pitched beeps and "white noise" can be heard from both of the speakers (or just silence). This makes phone calls and listening to music impossible until the phone cools down. Is this a general problem or a faulty phone?

I took my phone to warranty already because the backlight was flickering, but got the phone saying "This is common on this model". Fortunately software update fixed this in July. I wouldn't want to take the phone for a two week service again if it's just a software glitch...

i suggest you get it checked at sony service center

http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/contact-us/

Although here is how to repair the software ( if you wish to reinstall)

________________________________________________________________

Backup everything as it will erase all data on phone (sms, contacts, apps)

Update/Repair your phone via PCC or SUS

PCC (PC COMPANION) – Repair your software with this .First do the setup without connecting your mobile to pc.(only connect when you are asked to).

Do it as follow >> PCC > SUPPORT ZONE> SOFTWARE UPDATE> REPAIR SOFTWARE (written with blue)

PC Companion http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/tools/pc-companion/

SUS ( Sony Update Service)  ... download and install it on pc and follow the on-screen instructions http://www-support-downloads.sonymobile.com/Software%20Downloads/Update_Service_Setup-2.11.12.5.exe

I have this issue too. And it's not the speaker itself, it's the complete audio circuitry. It happens when using the headset too (which almost blew my ears when that happened).

It doesn't cause me too much problems (it only happens when I'm playing a game, which I hardly ever do). I might get it serviced after my vacation, although I'm not happy about being without it for weeks.

I deleted all apps and settings with factory reset. Now the speaker problem has changed - phone calls are ok when the phone is hot, but when I play some music and the screen goes dark/I switch it off, the music is overcome by whistling noise from the speaker. After I turn the screen back on, it's all ok. Maybe this isn't a hardware issue afterall...?

I guess it's a hardware issue only

Did you perform a software repair as well ?
