WiFI NOT Working on ICS

I'm using a Sony Xperia U, with ICS. Since I ran OFFICIAL ICS update on my phone, I cant connect to the internet through WiFi. Signal strength is good. Connection is stable. But it just dont transfer data packets.

I did some googling and I found out its the most common issue with Xperia U ICS.

Please find a solution for this.

Thanks

Hi, I assumed you'd asked this Slightly_smiling_Face

1) Download the flashtool if you aint got it: http://androxyde.github.com/

2) Download the ICS C.0 from here: https://hotfile.com/dl/182433042/18e...obile.ftf.html

This is all you need to flash your phone.

Other files from that tutorial, and explanation i give further is for rooting the Xperia U (gaining administrative privileges for adding, deleting, editing system files or/and using applications that require root access)!

If you don't wanna root your phone you don't need to download any of the files provided!

The kernel is provided if you wanna root your phone after you flash the 6.1.1.c.1.10 firmwire.

To be more specific, you can only root your phone with the old kernel, so basically what you do is flashing the latest firmwire, than flash only the older kernel, you root your phone with binary v13, and then you flash back the newest c.1.10 kernel to your phone. So you're using the old kernel just to root your phone and after that you return the newest kernel by flashing it.

Come'on Sony. It has been months, thousands of customers are facing the same issue. You still haven't fixed it??

at least a bug-free (less-bugs) Jelly Bean update??

Guys I found a solution to our problem. Pay attention. I "REDID" the update. However this time, I "FOLLOW THE TIPS strictly UPDATE INDICATED BY MANUAL AND DURING THE PROCESS." And I could make connections "wi-fi" without problems. Just noticed that for some wi-fi networks, turn off and turn on again the Xperia U. I did this two days ago and, only now I'm recovering satisfaction for buying this smartphone. if you have questions contact me.

Hey Bro,

Thanks for sharing ur experice. But I did my update twise, then I tried to repiar my update as well. Still it's not receiving any data. I found out that we can change our router settings and connect it with Xperia U ICS. but it's not a practicle solution.

From what I found from forums, it works with some routers, with some settings.

For more info, visit   http://forum.xda-developers.com

But I think Sony should release a JB update with wifi issue fixed for Xperia U. We deserve it.

Look, you have to flash manually the latest and the most stable firmwire at the moment.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35339192&postcount=173

This is official update of Sony Firmwire from T-Mobile Croatia. So it have T-Mobile boot animation and a application called web'n'walk but you can easily remove them. All those wifi, camera bugs are fixed in this firmwire but it's not available in other countries (except Croatia and Slovakia) to update via SUS or PC companion.

Install the drivers from flashtool first, then connect the phone to the PC and let it be recognized.

Then, turn off your phone, disconnect the USB cable, wait few seconds and then connect it again while holding the Volume Down button (as in SUS or PC companion update). Windows will recognize the phone in this mode too... And that's it... you can now proceed the tutorial from the link I provided.

(This is only for your first time using the flashtool, so your phone must be recognized and istalled the needed drivers, if not, flashtool will give you an error and ask you to install drivers first)

P.C. I'm using this version, and it's fastest, smoothest and most reliable version of ICS for now.

Good luck.

Thanks to jatinrungta it's his thread

Just forgot to mention, drivers are in the flashtool folder... Open the .exe file and select your phone model, and check if flashtool and fastboot drivers are also selected at the bottom of the list.

If you don't gonna root the phone you'll need just the 6.1.1.c.1.10 firmwire (not just the kernel) and the flashtool.

It's important to mention some things before you start if you're having problems.

1) If you are using x64 Windows start FlashTool64 not FlashTool.

2) Turn on USB Debugging in the phone, and DO NOT turn on Unknown Sources, it's not working with Unknown Sources option turned on (i don't know why).

3) After you've selected your ftf firmwire, you may check "No final verification option" (as in the pic down)

4) Obviously, but just to say... Flashtool will ask you to press back button and connect your USB cable, but actually it's Volume Down Key for Xperia U...

5) Do a Settings Resset after your phone is flashed.

6) Enjoy your fully functional phone now Slightly_smiling_Face

hey bro!

Thanks again for ur help. One more question before I start it.

They have given ICS kernal as well.. What am I supposed to do with it??  (Xperia U_ICS 4.0.4 kernel_nu.ftf)

I have already copied Xperia U ST25i_6.1.1.C.1.0_T-Mobile.ftf  file to the "firmwares" folder.

Do I need to copy Xperia U_ICS 4.0.4 kernel_nu.ftf file to the "firmwares" folder as well??

Thanks and regards!
