Hi,
I'm hoping someone can help.
In a "moment of madness" I downloaded a ROM from XDA Developers and flashed it onto my Arc (I actually tried Cyanogenmod and almost bricked my phone). I was trying to get rid of all the bloatware but that didn't work. Now I've got a non standard and when I try to the Update Service I get an error message - "The phone contains modified software that cannot be updated". With ICS on the way (I won't ask when my SI will be ready) I've seen the light and figured I should just stick with the standard OS.
So can someone suggest how I get a standard ROM onto my phone again? It's a UK Vodafone mobile.
And any advice on how to get rid of all the apps that I don't need would be appreciated e.g. I don't use Facebook but it takes up a lot space, but I can't uninstall it,
Cheers,
John

Hi,
Thanks for the reply, tried it but got the same answer from the PC Companion.
I see there's ICS ROMs going about for the Arc, I might try one of them instead,

OK so I installed 4.0.4 successfully but couldn't do the root access by DoomLord, too many errors. I did however flash that file and relocked the phone and I can use the update service again, thanks.
if you wan't to root then see How to root 4.0.4 in the guide ...
you need to flash 4.0.3 kernel form Arc S's firmware ( just the kernel ) and then use DooMLoRD rooting toolkit, after rooting flash back the 4.0.4 kernel again
