UPDATE PROBLEM

I try to update my Xperia S from my laptop using the pc companion but an error pops up sayin " UNABLE TO INSTALL OR START PHONE SOFTWARE UPDATE COMPONENT". Can anyone help me out in this.

Try SUS

Update Service (SUS)

Try doing the following to resolve this issue,

1.Close PC Companion

2. Install java from http://www.java.com/winoffline_installer

3. Start PC Companion again and try to do the SW Update of the phone.

I have same issue, but it resolved by installing java. When the PCC instruct to pressed the volume down while plugging the micro usb, But no menu appear again? How long we pressed the volume down? any idea? please help, I want to update my phone. Thanks.

i am facing the same problem too. I can't update my phone too.

i have the same problem yesterday. what i did,  off temporarily firewall of antivirus. battery should be morethan 50%. your internet connection should be adequate( when using usb 3G internet connection , same problem as you descript ). when using dsl landline works flowlessly.

Hi Jake,

I install java and PCC on my desktop computer, temporary turn off the firewall/antivirus and everything work well.

this issue still happen in my laptop, can't update via PCC, it's still asking me to pressed volume down while connecting the micro usb to the phone? why it was happen on my laptop? in my dekstop computer, PCC didn't ask me to do it...?

any comment or idea?
