Touch/Swipe Problem with Xperia neo V

I bought this phone on 26th February, 2012 and it was working fine till around March end and suddenly I started experiencing swipe issues:

1) At some occasions, when I recieved calls swipe/drag to right to accept the call didn't work. I assumed it could be a memory issue where I might have many processes running at the backgroud.

Till this problem spread to the different level:

2) Unlock swipe/drag option also started behaving the similar way as mentioned above but at this point I was sure that it has nothing to do with the memory issue since it happened even I restarted my phone.

3) It has increased more when I made an update to Icecream Sandwitch (ICS) version. The latest issues I am facing now are:

a) Pattern lock doesn't work effectively, I have to make 4-5 attempts to unlock it

b) If I put scroll lock (left to right drag function) instead of pattern (I noticed in ICS that they have made this option and pattern optional while in Gingerbread you had to perform both the functions to unlock phone) even then it is hard to unlock phone and I had to make few attempts to unlock it.

--- For resolution, I went to the service center where they made an update to the software (OS) but interestingly it took me back to Gingerbread from ICS however problem with Pattern and scroll unlock still persists.

Service center feels that it might be touch screen issue however I am not sure since this problem is occuring ONLY at Home screen or you can say at the Unlock time or sometimes while receiving/accepting the calls. It does work perfectly, if I go to Settings > Localion and Security > Screen Unlock > Change Screen Lock > Confirm Saved Pattern. It takes the pattern input at this level with no issues at all.

I am scheduled to go to service center today as they said it has to be sent for touch screen replacement / further testing today however wanted to see if it is really a hardware issue or a software issue.

PS: Since my phone OS is reinstalled by service center hence it has very less softwares installed mostly delivered hence software conflicts should not be the possibility.

Thanks Aakash for sharing the details however that is not the case here.

I am using SanDisk Memory Card MicroSDHC 16GB Class 4 and I actually called customer care before buying this card to ensure that it would work fine with my NeoV.

Just so you know, I also took this memory card off my device before submitting it to the service center and when they tested it there issue still persisted.

So in my case I rule out the memory card causing the issue.

I am in touch with a point of contact in Sony corporate office here to see I can get this issue resolved with his close watch on the progress.

I got this problem within 15 DAYS !!! Slightly_frowning_Face why cant they give some solution.. is going to service centre the only solution ????? updating to ICS doesn help .. Slightly_frowning_Face i can see people reporting this problem in facebook, youtube and some xda developers etc ... i bought it on may 9th and problem started on 24th!!

@Janani.Prasad ... its  sad that u got this problem immediately ... If you are facing the same problem as mentioned in the video ..then the only option is to go to service center and get the Touch panel replaced. Mine also in Service center and hopefully i will get my phone this week . Then i can tell you guys if the problem is resolved after touch panel replacement. No use even if u upgrade to ICS or re flash the OS . I asked SONY  why such problems are coming .. but they dont have any answer..

I would say it is good that you got this problem so soon atleast you can push them for replacement of your handset and I would strongly suggest not to accept any repair and would rather DEMAND for replacment or upgrade to newer release like Xperia P or S or may be replacement of money.

Wow! Lucky you.

I got a confirmation that my handset is available however when I checked with them they told me to wait for some more time since problem still persists.

Just curious, if you asked them what was the issue and if they changed some part in specifc?

@gunsranger  yes the problem is solved completly + the sreen is now more responsive

                   but i can confirm that the screen was changed
