Touch/Swipe Problem with Xperia neo V

I bought this phone on 26th February, 2012 and it was working fine till around March end and suddenly I started experiencing swipe issues:

1) At some occasions, when I recieved calls swipe/drag to right to accept the call didn't work. I assumed it could be a memory issue where I might have many processes running at the backgroud.

Till this problem spread to the different level:

2) Unlock swipe/drag option also started behaving the similar way as mentioned above but at this point I was sure that it has nothing to do with the memory issue since it happened even I restarted my phone.

3) It has increased more when I made an update to Icecream Sandwitch (ICS) version. The latest issues I am facing now are:

a) Pattern lock doesn't work effectively, I have to make 4-5 attempts to unlock it

b) If I put scroll lock (left to right drag function) instead of pattern (I noticed in ICS that they have made this option and pattern optional while in Gingerbread you had to perform both the functions to unlock phone) even then it is hard to unlock phone and I had to make few attempts to unlock it.

--- For resolution, I went to the service center where they made an update to the software (OS) but interestingly it took me back to Gingerbread from ICS however problem with Pattern and scroll unlock still persists.

Service center feels that it might be touch screen issue however I am not sure since this problem is occuring ONLY at Home screen or you can say at the Unlock time or sometimes while receiving/accepting the calls. It does work perfectly, if I go to Settings > Localion and Security > Screen Unlock > Change Screen Lock > Confirm Saved Pattern. It takes the pattern input at this level with no issues at all.

I am scheduled to go to service center today as they said it has to be sent for touch screen replacement / further testing today however wanted to see if it is really a hardware issue or a software issue.

PS: Since my phone OS is reinstalled by service center hence it has very less softwares installed mostly delivered hence software conflicts should not be the possibility.

I also faced this issue. When the phone is locked it will take 8 to 10 seconds to unlock/swipe. I tried cleaning the screen and all but the issue was not solved and finally i decided to go to the service center. So i took off my memory card and found that the issue was solved.

                            Then i again inserted the memory card and found that the phone was working fine.

pravincp20 i'm also facing the same problem 6 months ago when i removed the sd card the same as u did touch screen starts working again at lockscreen.

Ok. I have tried several things:

-I sent in my phone for repair, they "repaired" the software. I first had GB, and made an upgrade to ICS. When I got my phone back it had GB again, and the slide problem was still present.

-My phone company gave me a new phone after I  told them the problem persisted. For a month or two everything was good. Then the problem came back.

-I got a faster memory card (class 10), which also did not fix the problem.

-Taking out the memory card fixes the problem for me just for a couple of times (you can also try disconnecting the card in the settings and connecting ist again).

The solution I found is: you have to install another launcher. After I did this I have no more problems with slide to unlock, even the performance went up. I still have to test this for a longer period of time, but I wanted to let you know, meybe this fixes the problem for you too.

Now there is just the WiFi crazyness, but that is another story

The slower response is coz of the " cash " memory ... have u tried to clear the cash using software like " Es taskmanager " helps; then again if u r using memory cards more that 8gb this problem tends to arrise when the card fills up ... that is significant as when u remove the filled cards it becomes smoother !!... regular cleanup of unused apps and back up of camcordings to system avoids these lags ... then leave abt 80 to 90 mb free in the phone memory preformance shoud be improved !!

I always read that it serves no purpose to clear the cache memory, because that is the way the android/linux system works, it always has programs in RAM.

My card is 32gb, I dont have that many apps but quite a lot of music. But the problem is still there with or without memory card.

Now that I am using another homescreen loader ist has become much smoother, and I just have to slide once to unlock, not after several tries.

hi Guys.this is my frist post.well my english is not good anyhow.GOOD news for xperia neo v user with strange touch problems.like slide open  problem call slide problem.its not hardware problem.its just some sort of software problem bugs etc.i tried many things but in vain.so guys dont worry here is one and best simple solution of this damn problem.today is just installed ....

I have found solution finally after 6 months...

I am using xperia neo v since Jan 2012. in past couple of month, i have touch issues, pattern unlock is not working. app opening slowly... like all you have registered here...

Today, I found an option in app menu "Google Settings"

When i opened that, i found "connected apps" option.

When i clicked, it shows a **bleep** lot of conencted apps, which i never known to.

I removed one by one...

Only kept option of Facebook and messanger...

This is it...

All the touch issues are resolved.

Please try this and if you are succeded then spread the news...

There is not any connected apps on my phone but unlock problem is still here.

Do you have another suggestion?
