Touch/Swipe Problem with Xperia neo V

I bought this phone on 26th February, 2012 and it was working fine till around March end and suddenly I started experiencing swipe issues:

1) At some occasions, when I recieved calls swipe/drag to right to accept the call didn't work. I assumed it could be a memory issue where I might have many processes running at the backgroud.

Till this problem spread to the different level:

2) Unlock swipe/drag option also started behaving the similar way as mentioned above but at this point I was sure that it has nothing to do with the memory issue since it happened even I restarted my phone.

3) It has increased more when I made an update to Icecream Sandwitch (ICS) version. The latest issues I am facing now are:

a) Pattern lock doesn't work effectively, I have to make 4-5 attempts to unlock it

b) If I put scroll lock (left to right drag function) instead of pattern (I noticed in ICS that they have made this option and pattern optional while in Gingerbread you had to perform both the functions to unlock phone) even then it is hard to unlock phone and I had to make few attempts to unlock it.

--- For resolution, I went to the service center where they made an update to the software (OS) but interestingly it took me back to Gingerbread from ICS however problem with Pattern and scroll unlock still persists.

Service center feels that it might be touch screen issue however I am not sure since this problem is occuring ONLY at Home screen or you can say at the Unlock time or sometimes while receiving/accepting the calls. It does work perfectly, if I go to Settings > Localion and Security > Screen Unlock > Change Screen Lock > Confirm Saved Pattern. It takes the pattern input at this level with no issues at all.

I am scheduled to go to service center today as they said it has to be sent for touch screen replacement / further testing today however wanted to see if it is really a hardware issue or a software issue.

PS: Since my phone OS is reinstalled by service center hence it has very less softwares installed mostly delivered hence software conflicts should not be the possibility.

I found below discussion in forum which has similar issue discussed but it has some software update which I am not very comfortable with unless service center does it for me. Below are the discussion details:

Since you did a hard reseto or updated software it should came back to the original state and should work properly. Or the original state is not the correct ?

I went to the assitance today. My phone came back from Sony with the same issue. Shouldn´t sony know about the setup problem? They also did only a customizing software update. The problem still remains.  I´ve read the other thread, and yes it´s totally related to the system came back after turning on the screen again. They send back to sony for another repair.

Anyone here with your phone in hands can try to reset the Livewire settings to see if ir really solves the problem?

After the hard reset everything was the same... the lag was still there.

It is really strange, because in fact, the hard reset should have restarted all the settings, including the presumable incompatibility in the software that first originated the problem.

Even stranger is that according to some testimonials, with mobiles running ICS that went to service and were downgraded to GB, the problem still subsisted.

I have now idea of what the causes might be, and it is hard to understand that the solution can be directly connected to the LiveWare settings... even because I had never changed those settings prior to time when the lag first started with me.

Does anyone know if this issue happened with any other mobile device from Sony?

Mine is the Xperia Neo, not the V and wasn´t update to ICS yet at least here in Brazil.

Livewire changes when you connect a phone. or connect the usb cable or hdmi.

If the problem appears because of it .. so it still have a problem and the problem will can came back sometime in the future. So it´s not a real correct solution.

Can anyone confirm if the solution by using Livewire setting solves the problem?

If yes, can anyone from sony fix this bug ?

Yeah. That's really frustrating.

And since now I am hearing more people complaining (as you also did) I now believe that it's the product altogether which is faulty irrespective of location/country (Global Problem :smileywink:). I have a fellow (user id: trmasaki) who is from Brazil and he is facing the same problem however this guy is using Neo not NeoV (which is actually a downgraded version of Neo).

btw...I am from Gurgaon (Haryana), India
