Problem with 2G/3G after Arc S ICS update

My mobile network is only able to use 2G after updating to the ICS update. I'm unable to change the network selection to 3G and there isn't an option in settings for me to "force" the phone to use 3G connection. Help anyone?

Hi thanks for replying.

I'm using the ICS official update, so it's Settings ---> wireless & netoworks ---> more ----> mobile network.

My APN is correct. I've tried a few different configurations for my service provider, which is Starhub. (I'm a Singaporean user btw)

I was able to use the 3G connection a few days back, it had a "H" sign at the top right beside the signal strength bars which was actually the HSPDA connection. But it turned to a "G" which was GPRS, and didn't turn back. In some areas where I travel, it would switch to a faster EDGE connection but never to a 3G. Apparently this isn't a problem with my service provider as my friends could all still use the 3G connection.

I'm wondering if the Android OS is able to "intelligently" switch to the faster 3G connection when it detects it or will it just stick to the 2G connection? Is there a way to force my phone to use 3G cause apparently there isn't an option for that in the settings.
