PC Companion 2.10.027 doesn't install

Hello,

I'm using the PC Companion for a while now and since a couple of days I receive the message that a new version is available (2.10.027). The program automatically starts update after a few seconds, but it fails each time and the program shuts down. I tried uninstalling PC Companion and after reboot downloading & installing version 2.10.027, but this fails as well. Does anybody know how to overcome this  and install new version or how to disable automatic updating?

P.S. My laptop is running on Window 7 32bit.

hey ,, boot pc in safe mode and then run
alternatively turn the firewall off and even antivirus software if any and then try

Thanks for your quick response!

I already tried turning off the firewall and antivirus software, but this didn't work. However I didn't try installing program in safe mode yet. This worked 🙂 and I can open new veresion of PC companion in safe mode. However when I reboot in normal mode I'm not able to open the program 😞 I tried disabling firewall and antivirus software and rebooting with disabled firewall and antivirus, but this doesn't work. Any ideas?

ummm, surely seems that some thirp party software on computer is messing up with PC COMPANION

important :smileyinfo: in firewall settings, allow full access to pc companion or move it in the list of exceptions/ excluded items and do the same with antivirus,

do you have another pc, ? try installing pc companion on that and see if it works...

because some wifi routers and modems create troubles

Same here on Windows 7 64 bit.

Makes me wonder if there's something nasty in the companion software, but Bitdefender usually has a log of any things it blocks and the installer was not on the list. Most strange.

This is all obviously a big problem with the driver software. The moderators seriously need to have a long discussion about sony with this because as it stands when we eventually get ICS we won't be able to update anyway.
