MH650c headset not working

I just bought an MH650c headset from e-bay, india. The sonymobile website says that mh650 is best partnes with the sony xperia arc. But when i connected the headset to the phone, it says accessory not supported. I am kinda confused about whiy this is happening. Please do advise me on what i should do next

I believe that this headset come in two versions. (OMTP and CTIA). Xperia arc follows the OMTP standard for headsets while the MH650c is the CTIA version. I think that you'll need to use the MH650 to get it working.

Oh. Thanks a lot Johan. Just one thing, is it a software or a hardware conflict? If it is a software conflict, can it be resolved by the new ICS being rolled out?

These two standards differs in terms of hardware. What it is that exactly differs is how the leaders within the cable are connected to the 3,5mm plug.
