Losing video "creation date" when tranfering to PC (Win7)

Hi There,

I really happy of with my brand new Xperia Mini. However I just noticed that when downloading the videos I took with it onto my PC, the creation date of the file is no more the date when I shot the video but the date and time when it was imported on the PC.

Whatever the way I tranfer the video I lose the right date: either accessing via the Windows Filer Manager or via Media Go.

Strangely enough there is no such issue with the pictures, where date and time are the right one.

I´ve been searching on the web and on the Forum but not spot similar report.

References:

  • Xperia Mini (not the pro)
  • Latest update of the firwmware xxxxxxx62
  • Android 2.3.4 (no Root)
  • Win7 Home Premium SP1

Any hint is welcomed, our second daughter is just born yesterday and I would like an easy tagging of when the video are taken.

Cheers,

Thomas

I've just tested this. And when the phone is connected in MTP mode I can't see the creation date on the videos and I think that's the reason why Windows creates the current time as creation date when you copy the video to the computer.

But if you connect the phone in MSC mode instead you can transfer the videos with creation date kept in order.

Menu > Settings > Sony Ericsson > Connectivity > USB connection mode > Mass storage mode (MSC)
