I am using SONY ERICSSON CEDAR J108i.
My Internet Connection is Aircel - Pocket Internet - 2G.
I have Skype on my Computer.
So, I have Skype Username and password.
I downloaded Skype on my mobile phone.
In my mobile, I am able to log on to my Skype account using the same Username and Password which I use in Computer.
But, after clicking,Video and free Calls, I am not able to see the list of contacts.
(I have not tried when somone is online.)
Any guidance appreciated.

Unfortunately, for Java-OS mobiles such as the Cedar, Skype does not as yet support using the phone for voice and video calls. If you enter Skype.com/m in your mobile's internet browser, you will get that message. The only way I know of being able to use Skype on a Java mobile in the UK, is if you buy the phone from the 3 network, as they have the monopoly on this software--be aware that using a 3 SIM in an unlocked phone will not allow you to download this software (I have tried this on a W995), so you do actually have to buy the phone from the 3 network. It's a pity that Skype will not make this software available for all Java mobile owners to use, but it appears that market forces dictate otherwise!
By the way, when you say that you have downloaded Skype on your mobile, this isn't actually possible, at least not at the moment, because the PC software is not compatible with your phone. In any case, even if it was, it wouldn't work over 2G, as you would need a 3G or WiFi connection.

Thank you, Dr. Chris, for the immediate and apt reply.
No problem, lets hope that Skype will make this available for all Java mobiles soon.
Shall I move from 2G to 3G?
I am using this sim in Sony Ericsson Cedar (j108i).
thanks for your reply..when technology takes its next step..hope Skype will make this available for all Java mobile users like me.
3G is available for me on my mobile by my Internet provider...shall i move to 3G now to use skype?
Well, 3G will give you a much faster internet connection anyway, so this is useful, for example, for streaming video when using Youtube, or accessing websites quicker in general, so you might as well switch to 3G.
Thanks, Dr. Chris. I will try 3G and if necessary, will get back to you.
You cant make video calls with 2G ! change to 3G
I can chat with skype contacts on Hazel J20i.
