Hello you can use SUS, there is an on-screen instruction on how to upgrade.

Yes, holding down down button while pluging in USB is a must.

Yes, factory reset will erase everthing. but pre installed apps doesn't like the android market.

Use SUS (for me i use sus)

the only way you can update is by SUS and PC Companion.

Holding Volume up and power button is for phones that doesn't respond (phone hangs, you can read the manual)

here is a link for SUS

ohhh. so, the correct method is. 1) Do a factory reset first. 2) Update with SUS? ( i have to keep holding till its connected? ) after updating to ics, do i still need to do a factory reset again to make the battery better? o_o

Just download the update service

If you wish to have clean installation then while updating, SUS would provde you with the option of Factory Data reset + Update , select it and just proceed Slightly_smiling_Face

SUS ( Sony Update Service)  ... download and install it on pc and follow the on-screen instructions

oh alright thanks! Last question.. official date for ICS is 20 August. Does that mean i can update it on that date or have to wait for a few day for it to arrive at my country? o.o

1. yes do a factory reset

2. yes SUS works for me ( you need to hold the button down till it tell you to release it.)

3. No you dont need to factory reset after updating to ics.

i hope so, here in my country ICS is still not available. Try to look at SUS on August 20, it will alert you if xperia P has new update.

oh ok thanks man! so looking at SUS is better than waiting for the notification on my phone, telling the ICS update is ready? or its the same Anguished_Face

Sometimes the phone notification is late, it's better to check using Pcc or SUS.

oh alright. thanks! Slightly_smiling_Face . hmm, there's this weird 6.0.B.3.188 system update on my phone.. is it a must for me to update it or i can stay on build 6.0.B.1.564 and wait for the ICS to come?
