Contacts not Importing Properly

Recently my battery run dead and after recharging, all stored files and contacts were no longer there. I can live with that, however, the phone will not now import any of my contacts from my sim. I go through the procedure of importing the contacts, it declares that they have been imported but none of them are there. The phone, however, still recognises my contacts contacting me. Presumable this is because they are on the sim. Any ideas as to how I get them from the sim to my phone would be greatly appreciated?

Do you have any filters on?Contacts-filter.

Thanks, I have no idea why it automatically was set up to filter out all contacts, This is the first issue I have had with it sonce I got it 3 months ago.
