I got my Xperia T on contract with Orange (UK). I was given a number but ported my old number over. When I go to my contacts, Myself is shown at the top of the list but it shows the original number assigned to me. Also when I go into settings/about phone/status it shows the original number. Is there any way I can change this? I've tried to edit the "Mysel" contact but it won't let me change that number.
PS Phone on Jellybean 9.1.A.0.489 if it helps
Solved! Go to Solution.
This gets more confusing. when I go into edit contact, I can see that it says linked contacts: 3 but I cannot see how they're linked and what to! At the bottom of the edit page there are 2 more "myselfs" but neither have any data in them and I can't delete them (or am I being thick? :smileylaugh:)
Are the other Myselfs further down in the contacts list?
I can't link any to the main Myself one.
No I don't have any other "myselfs" in my contacts and also don't have a contact using my name so don't know what they're linked to
That is strange.
You can either Repair Your Phone with SUS or PC Companion (back up your data first) or wait til April for the next update.
The number you are unable to change and you see under Settings -> About phone -> Status is a number preprogrammed into your SIM-card from your operator as your number. My operators SIM-card does not support this so i can't check for sure but i don't think it's possible to change this number from the phone.
Rickard
He should be able to edit the Myself contact though, and why is there linked myselfs that don't appear in the contact list?
Yes, he can edit the Myself contact but only the information that he added by himself or linked contacts. On some SIM-cards the operator has preprogrammed what number the SIM has (My number). This is the number that is displayed under Settings -> About phone -> Status and under Myself in the phonebook. It's not a linked contact.
I don't think you can edit that number from the phone. My SIM doesn't support My number so i can't test this here but i know it can't be done on our previous Xperia phones.
Having the wrong number as My number shouldn't cause any problem but if you want the correct number to be displayed i would recommend that you contact the operator for assistance.
Thanks for all the replies. It looks like I'm stuck with it. As Rickard said, it doesn't cause me any problems, it's more of an annoyance that it's there and won't go away. I've contacted Orange and they weren't able to help either
I can understand why it appears in the status but
still don't see why you're not able to edit the contact though.
I can edit my number etc, but not link to it.
I'd try and delete it and see what happens.
You can always create a new contact A.Myself to appear at the top of your list.
