Hello, is correct open a new discussion and don't post in the "Arc wifi keep dropping", because the problem is different.
This is a native Android bug and works so:
in wifi netoworks with protection 802.1x EAP is necessary to save same settings like "Phase 2 authentication", in my case i have to select Mschapv2.
However the system doesn't save it, en fact, if you enter again in the network to modify it, you could see "none" instead of Mschapv2 !
In this way is impossible to use wifi in the colleges or offices that use this protection method !!! It doesn't connect in anyway.
This happen with any value into phase 2 authentication, not only for Mschapv2.
You can verify it creating a fake wifi network with 802.1x EAP protection, and phase 1 set to PEAP.
Then chose a phase 2 setting, one or an other is the same, save and go again into the network: long click - modify
the phase 2 will show "none" and not the settings previously selected.
Ok, it is an android native bug, that afflicts most of the terminals, of all brands, not only Sony, from 2.2 to ICS; there is also an official google ticket with hundred users that speak about it. So, where is the problem ?
Here: with the previous builds, for example i can be sure for 3.0.xxx.145, this didn't happen !! Probably Sony itself added a fix.
Before i said, "most of the terminals", because in few cases the phone Brand added a cure in some firmwares !!!
But are very isolate cases.
Sony you can do something for the future realease?
You already did it with the old builds 3.0.xxx, please do again.
I can't connect at my college, and the xda fix required root, recovery mode and other.
Solved! Go to Solution.
I had my colleagues do some tests on this.
Test made on latest firmware (4.0.2.A.0.62)
Security: 802.1X EAP
Phase1: PEAP
Phase2: MSCHAPv2
Seems to work just fine when we tested it. This is a part of what needs to be supported in order to get Wi-Fi certified, which SE phones are.
About phase2 showing as "none" in Wi-Fi settings, when you press modify seems to be a UI bug and does not affect the connection. It saved the credentials we entered.
So I suggest that you double check with your network admin that you have the correct certificate, username and password.

I will check what I can find about this.

I'm sure my user, password are correct.
When i add my network, with this procedure, directly coming from my college
there is no way to do a mistake
what i oberved is a tring to connect for 2-3 times, withous succes
and then i can see under the network
"disabled, secured with 802.1x Eap" and it doesn't connect
I think the situations is identical to this from an android official ticket
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=15631#makechanges
so, my Neo can't connect, while with old build did it
why your work and my not?
then i add, using an app like wifi config editor from the market, and changing the key management i can connect, but is a little slow, so probably there is not only a UI bug, but the system really doesn't save the correct informations.
However i will try to do all from the begin, creating the network and removing the app, and i will inform you
Ok, Johan
i did again all the configuration, deleting and creating from the begin the network
and today seemed to work fine at my college, but i could try only for 5 minutes
so i will continue to monitor and see if work properly in the next days with more intensive use
thansk so much for the moment, and sorry for the false alarmism
Ok, definitely works
is enough to do the configuration like instrunctions (from local network provided by the admin) and not modify more the settings.
If you enter again in the edit menu, it will not work.
