Xperia m5 Charging Cannot Full Problem

Dear All,

I just hold my xperia m5 dual since beginning november.

Every time i charge, it can charge quickly but once reach 91% it takes hours to 100% even 2 hours, so totally takes 4-5 hours, i already use original charger either 850 mA or 1500 mA.

I had bring my phone to the service center, but that still happen.

Does anyone have the same issue with me?

Hi @dynex, I'm sorry to hear about your phone.

When your phone was at an authorized service centre, did they change any parts in phone? If they didn't change any parts could you please try and charge your phone with another original charger? If you can borrow one from a colleague, family member or friend that also have a Xperia phone.

Does this always happen when you charge your phone, that the last 9-10% takes 2 hours?

I'd recommend that you charge your phone while it's rebooted in safe mode to see if you experience the same behaviour.

Mine is completely opposite, the last charge (90 to 100%) is completed within 3 to 10 mins.

Adhesive WR Speaker Holder

Paenel Deco Top Gold.

This is what written on the receipt.

Yes I buy the original charger also 1,5 A, almost the same with the default charger 850 mA.

Once reach around 90%, charging getting very slow. But sometimes is OK.

If you said I try charge in Boot Mode, once is OK, then what to do? I have always to charge in boot safe mode??

Hello again!

If you can charge the phone without any troubles from 90% to 100% in safe mode, one of your installed application is the cause of the charging slowing down.

Make sure all your applications are up to date.

I already try in safe mode. It is very slow starting 87%, you need almost 3 hours from it just to reach 100%.
But it is able to reach 87% from 0 for 90 minutes.
Is this normal??

Even when i power off the phone still same problem happen.
I heard that in Marshmallow it has new feature soft charging, is this feature applied on xperia m5? If yes how to switch it off? Is it because of this?

Hello again!

I think you are referring to the feature called charging optimization, this feature is not support by the Xperia M5.

Normal charging time for an Xperia M5 from 0 to 100% is 4 hours and 10 minutes.

If you have tried another charger I'm afraid it sounds like it's related to hardware rather than software and the phone will have to be sent to an authorized service centre, so please get in touch with your Local support and they will be able to assist you further.

I understand that it's not fun to send your phone again in such a short time and I am very sorry for the inconvenience.

Now i understand, if you said it take 4 hours, yes i need 4 hours to charge full.

This is too long consider the battery life around 8-10 hours for active usage
