Z5 premium bent

Z5 premium bent

Recently, or in other words, less than a week ago, I bought myself the Z5 premium and so far, everything has been fantastic. Apart from the lack of earphones included in my £600 purchase...

Only now I've taken it out my pocket and noticed the side casing had popped out a bit, upon further inspection I now realise that my brand new top of the range smartphone, is housed in a cheap bent frame. Anyone know how to get this resolved without sending it away? Only just had my Z2 fixed and it took over a week to get it back. Not good enough Sony.

I have found the exact same problem with my Z5 Premium gold. Took it into O2 and got told to pay £230 to fix it!! Does anybody know of a solution to this yet? Are Sony replacing devices for this issue? Its a joke for a £600+ device to bend like a toy phone from aldi! Shame on Sony, I have had the z1 Z3 both for 2 year contracts and never treated them any differently yet this device bends.

Never had any bending issue with my Z5 premium, the reinforced steel takes some serious pressure to bend.

Well I wish my Z5 premium was as strong as viridis.... Mine bends extremely easily... It isn't even 1 month old and already bent.... The side with the power button is extremely weak and Sony won't admit it... Feel like I've been completely ripped off... This phone will never last through my 2 year phone contract, it's not even 30 days old and has already failed, Sony should be ashamed

@Nacadia

I'm sorry to hear about your issue, but my Z5 Premium its fine, perhaps you cracked the screen or the back cover? perhaps you dropped it, sat on it, etc. post pictures if you can.

I have just sent my Sony Z5 away for repair as the phone would no longer switch on or charge. I had noticed when I first purchased the phone the power on button had a tiny crack on it but thought nothing of it. Then over time I noticed a very slight bend to the phone. Whilst usually using the device it will get extremely hot when using certain things such as video'ing in 5k. I receive the phone back and it is not covered under the manufacturers warranty. The phone is absolutely immaculate. The guy in the shop even said this was extremely harsh... I have cover and will cost me £75. I cannot currently afford this but that isn't my issue. My issue is that this is without a doubt a fault in the handset. I'd LOVE to see the statisitcs on the number of phones they receive for repair with this issue.

This is exactly why I've not sent my handset in yet. It does still work fine, although when taking an image I have noticed it distorts the middle of the photo a bit but I can live with that until next upgrade. Quite shocking that Sony are still claiming this is not an issue with their design.

And yes, I still keep it in the same place every day, so the damage was done after a week or so and not gotten any worse - flaw in design/material

I've had my Z5 Premium for a while now and so far NO issues, you should avoid sitting on your phones.

I didn't sit on my phone, I had it in my pocket. The same pocket I kept my Z2 in which, funnily enough, is still in perfect condition.

I'm not an idiot, why would I sit on my phone? And I'm sure there are plenty of handsets that are yet to bend, but judging by the fact I treat all my phones with the same care, it's just a matter of time before yours goes Pete tong...

I must also add that my handset's power button now just has a black smudge In the middle of it (silver colour has faded) because it's obviously not been built to withstand someone touching it... This device cost £600+ new, the buttons on my Sony Ericsson T300 show more resilience than one button on this!

The Xperia Z5 Premium it's a lot bigger than the Z2, with that said, if you keep it in your front pocket and you sit or bend, you can still damage the phone, as for the power button, I still haven't experienced that either.

Xperia Z2

146.8 x 73.3 x 8.2 mm (5.78 x 2.89 x 0.32 in)

Xperia Z5 Premium

154.4 x 75.8 x 7.8 mm (6.08 x 2.98 x 0.31 in)
