Z5 Premium battery draining while sleeping

Hi,

I've been loging battery performance for a while, and I've noticed that there seems to be little variance between drain while in use and drain while sleeping.

Last night my battery dropped over 50% from 100% without any [major] on screen time. The phone was totally disconnected from any radio interfaces, and everything should have been sleeping.

I do have a white list to alow my smartwatch 3 to work while the phone's asleep, but these are things like Google services.

The battery stats for the period when the battery dropped shows;

Android system 10%,
Android OS 7%
Cell Standby 3%
Screen 3%
Phone Idle 2%
Media server 1%.

I don't really code that much anymore, but if this where a system I was debugging I'd be suspicious that Android Systems and Android OS are using such a big chunk of power while the system should be asleep and waiting to be activated by the only remaining interface, the cellar connection!

Any thoughts on this [Official or otherwise?]

Barry

Sorry, I didn't see this message [I've had one cup of coffee]. Given that I was directed here by things actually on my handset I assumed it was. How do I get in touch with Sony? I do know it's a 4k display, but I don't think it's the reason the battery is so bad. There's no way anyone would release a high end handset with performance that's this bad. Also it doesn't explain why the phone still drains when the screen is off and the handset's only connected to the celular network. It should go into standby, not carry on using up battery. IMHO something's going wrong somewhere in the Android sub system!

Here's something very interesting, and I should add that it's only early days! However0 if I restrict background process to 4 in developer options the battery remains steady. It stops the off screen battery drain. Normally there's a constant drain on the battery, even wen the phone's not being used. Now it's only using battery when I'm actually using the phone [it's held its charge at 51% since my.last post until I started actually using the handset to post this [it's now just dropped to 48%] which is somewhat heavy on battery for one post, but it's a lot better than it was. It's not however a real solution! It's obviously just preventing the service that's causing the drain from executing in the background...

I don't own Z5 premium, but regular Z5 and use it for 2-3 months now.

last 6-7 days it started to act just like you describe it, loosing 30% or more over night.

Any suggestion is welcome!

I think my battery draining problem is solved.

Sony updated Album App jesterday, and I updated it this morning.

After that I restarted my phone, and no more battery drain.

Will see what happens till tomorow, and I will confirm it here.

Cheers

Hi,

I've done what you asked and charged the phone to 100% then used it as normal, running it down to 10%. I've taken screen shots from the battery usage screen, including all details from each service or app that appears on the screen.

I've attached the images to this message.

God luck and thanks for the assist, if you can help I will be delighted [still can't find any official Sony support as all support leads back to this forum..
