A VERY quick reply from Sony Support, I have simply cut and pasted their reply below (in short, no chance, I may pop into Carphone Warehouse and see if the can do anything). They seemed to have ignored me mentioning the fact that people (like you) have sent in their WHITE phones, only to get them back in the same unresolved condition in which you sent it !!
Dear Bobby,
Thank you for contacting the Sony Xperia support centre.
We are sorry to hear of the issues that you are having with your Sony Xperia Z5 Compact lagging, freezing and turning off.
We can advise the Sony Limited Warranty covers all manufacturing faults that may occur on your handset and will last for a period of 24 months from the original date of purchase. If during the warranty period your product fails to operate under normal use and service due to a manufacturing fault then your handset will need to be sent to our authorised service centre to be examined under the terms and conditions of the warranty.
This warranty does not cover any failure of the product due to normal wear and tear or due to misuse, including but not limited to use in other than the normal and customary manner in accordance with the Sony instructions for use and maintenance of the product. Nor does this warranty cover any failure of the product due to accident, software or hardware modification/adjustment, acts of God or damage resulting from liquid.
Please note that if the damage is not covered by the Sony Limited Warranty, there is a fee of £21.80 to have your product returned should you not accept the estimated costs for repair or if it is not possible to carry out any repair. We would not be able to offer a replacement handset, if this is something that you would be looking for we would recommend to get in touch with your point of sale to see if they could help you further.
From the issues that you have described we would suggest that you send your handset to our service location to be examined by our authorised service engineers. However, please note the below information only applies to handsets which have been purchased within the UK. If your handset was purchased outside the UK then you would need to contact the support centre in that region.
To book your handset in for repair please visit the following link:

You will then be asked to either login with or create a Sony account. If you do not already have an account you can create one or sign in via Facebook or using Google+.
Once your account has been created select ‘My Products’ to register your device. Once you have registered your handset, please select ‘Repair your device’ and you will be guided through the repair process.
If you would like to track the status of your repair once your handset is sent off, please login your account and select My Orders which will provide you with the status of your handsets repair.

It looks like a generic reply.
Basically they are just saying that you should send it in for their tech support to take a look.
I think if you are gonna send it in, specfically say that you would like the chasis of the phone to be changed to another colour instead of simply reporting it as a touch screen problem.
BTW, i only get 12 months warranty here 😛
Well, it looks like there is no way to get helped by sony.
Anybody knows if latest white Z5Cs are still concerned by this issue? Is sony even aware of all this??
I bought the phone yesterday.
Accutully i wanted a coral one but , unluckily, the retailer didn't import it since, they siad, coral and yellow were not so popular here in Thailand.
So, i bought the white one and the problem started right when i started typing.
"when im about to type a msg and i press a letter (lets say i press S one time) the phone will register it like this sssssssssssssssss
and it wont stop ... if i use facebook i cant scroll down because everytime i try it will enter every single post or picture"
Exactly the same problems!
And i'm feeling so down right now
this problem should not even have happened . . .
Again . . .
"Shoudn't have happened!"
Can anyone fix this problem now?
i'm new to Android and never used Sony's smartphone before
i chose the Xperia Z5 Compact because , honestly, i love the coral color and its compact size that perfectly fits my palm.
I trust and love Sony since currently i'm using Sony Alpha 5100 and i'm so proud of it.
But you lose my faith now . . . ( for smartphone ).
I'm sorry to hear that.
Please try to update the firmware in your phone to the latest version. You can update it from Settings -> About phone -> Software update or by using a computer with PC Companion or Bridge for Mac.
If the touchscreen still doesn't work properly after updating the phone to the latest firmware, please contact a service centre or your Local support for assistance.
Still, this is weird nobody from sony didnt even admit that all white Z5C are impacted by this, no one owning a Z5C can use a tempered glass. lol.
