Z5 Camera Update - Not Working

I've just updated the camera application on my Z5, and now the rear facing camera doesn't work. It doesn't work in the camera application itself, it doesn't work with snapchat, it doesn't work with Facebook, it doesn't work with anything. Although the front facing camera does still work.

When I open the camera application, or snapchat, it's just a pitch black screen. You can see the "heads up display" in the application but it doesn't show what it should see through the lens.

I don't know why it's like this, and I expect Sony to fix it quickly with a new update.

Same problem here: no front camera icone displayed while taking a pic, diagnostic tools reveals AN error while checking tue camera, tried ti restart, reset to factory settings, tried to fix il through Xperia Companion but the problem persists

If diagnostic reveals error, than you should contact your local support body.

ok it seems the sony forums are literally useless for people seeking help with their expensive phones. let me sum this up for everyone.. reset phone, or us Sony companion tool to software repair.

If that doesnt work there is little to no knowledge on the camera issue, and just call your local support.

is there anyone out there that might have some deep knowledge of the camera issue? i mean this isnt a one off error so i am sure its commmon.

Having the same problem, started about a week ago.

Camera will freeze with flash staying on and not take picture.

Will not flash and just freeze, lock phone, reopen and will take photo fine.

Can take about 4 - 5 photos ok using take photo through messaging, then camera freeze

Camera diagnostic ok.

Used the repair function on sony companion and did not work.

In the1.5 I've had my mobile contract, I've had two Sony z3's replaced, then upgraded to a z5 only to have it fail within 6 months, seriously?

This is frustrating, my new  sony xperia Z5 has some dead pixels and now camera not working. I am getting message that Camera may be in use by another application. I have done software repair by the companion software it the problem is still on. My previous Sony phone also had screen issue and when I took it to local service center they messed up, and it was not worthing using it.... it looks like it is time to explore other brands!

Hi !

Since 2005, all my phones are Sony and this is the first time I am very disappointed with a Sony phone. My rear camera stop working after overheating a lot, no flashlight. I don't have a local store in the country I am presently but I bought a replacement rear camera change it myself and the problem was not solved. How a 700$ phone can have an issue like that really Sony? Now I have a phone with only front camera for selfies.

I have the same problem on my Z5 compact. After update to 7.0 the camera did not work. The camera app did not start.
