Z5 Camera Update - Not Working

I've just updated the camera application on my Z5, and now the rear facing camera doesn't work. It doesn't work in the camera application itself, it doesn't work with snapchat, it doesn't work with Facebook, it doesn't work with anything. Although the front facing camera does still work.

When I open the camera application, or snapchat, it's just a pitch black screen. You can see the "heads up display" in the application but it doesn't show what it should see through the lens.

I don't know why it's like this, and I expect Sony to fix it quickly with a new update.

Try to clear the camera app data and uninstall and reinstall the apps and check if that works.

How to clear data on apps.

1. Tap the Application screen icon.
2. Find and tap Settings > Apps.
3. Swipe to the All tab.
4. Find and tap on the camera app.
5. Tap Force stop > Clear data.
6. Restart the phone

Hi @williamlindh,

I'm sorry to hear that. Slightly_frowning_Face

Try Phy's suggestion and clear data for the camera. You can also test the camera in Diagnostics, Settings > About phone > Diagnostics > Test.

@tadisa

You could also try a software repair using PC Companion with the help of a PC.

However, if that doesn't help either you should get in touch with your Local support team and get your phone examined at one of our authorised service centers.

I am also having the same problem.

I clear cache, disable camera app, removed updates and the problem was not fixed after restarting the phone.

Can someone confirm that the only way of getting the camera launch to work again is by doing a phone factory reset, is there another way or nobody really knows what the problem is and we are guessing possible fixes?

Thanks

I have same problem and try each and every options but no progress. I don't know what to do.

@Kp6066 If none of the previously mentioned suggestion fixed this I'm afraid you will have to send your device in for repair. Contact your Local support for information on how to proceed further from here.

I have exactly the same issue, and then at times it just starts working again. When its not working the clearing the data and restarting the phone doesnt help. Please help. Would not like to lose my high opinion of this phone.
