I noticed that the back glass and front screen of the device is not in level with the device body. I think its the battery its swollen.

Similar situation here on my Xperia Z5 compact. It shuts down at or below 50%. I used Sony Companion's Repair from my computer two days ago. I re-installed only a few apps, which have not given me trouble in the past years. However, the problem remains. It only dropped 7% overnight, but dropped from 80% to 50% within 30 min while playing Pokemon Go today (that's 1% per min), and shut down at 50%. It wouldn't reboot right away telling me it had 0%. After about an hour, I tried again. It booted saying it had 43%, then shut down about 1 minute later. Wouldn't boot up again after that without charging. Yes, screen brightness was all the way down. I know Pokemon is a heavy app, but I've been playing it on this phone, without issues, since I purchased the phone in January 2016.

@RohitKM, If the battery is swollen, you should stop using the device directly and get in touch with your Local support team as soon as possible. They will guide you further with how to proceed with your case.

@LLAmy, very sorry to hear about this. Slightly_frowning_Face

Did you experience the same behaviour with other applications as well, before you reset the device using Xperia Companion? If you did, it does sound like it's related to the hardware and not the software in your device, since you were not able to start it up without charging, except for a very short amount of time (1 minute).

You can try running your device in safe mode and watch a YouTube video or something that will drain the battery quite fast and see if it still shuts down, or if it only occurs when playing Pokemon Go.

Keep me posted!

I have the same problem.  I guess the solution is to buy a Samsung .

That's worse than mine. Sounds like it's either a repair or replace job.

Hello everyone and I'm sorry to hear that all of you are experiencing the same behaviour.

@shoveit, based on what @joshbarnes wrote in his post, that it was fixed by replacing the battery, it could be related to the hardware in the device, but I would still recommend that you do the troubleshooting steps that I have posted previously in this thread and start with the calibration of the battery.

@Dead_Sony_z5, Please have a look at my previous posts in this thread and see if that helps. Recalibrate the battery > software repair/service

@Billy_from_Consett, May I ask you to elaborate a bit on the behaviour that you are experiencing? Slightly_smiling_Face

Keep me posted everyone!

Hi

My Z5 has just started losing 50% of its charge overnight, and generally just runs out too quickly. Nothing more dramatic than that.

My actions

1. Uninstall virtually everything on it

2. Call Sony and check guarantee status. Aug 2018. No Sony repairs offered.

3. Reset software using Sony's software companion.

Result is no improvement.

I've now bought a replacement battery and im waiting for it to arrive. That tactic fixed my z1 sometime back.#

I've reset my phone a couple of times and the battery seems to be now working like it used to - it loses a few percent of its charge overnight only.

So after I bought a new battery but not used it, I have fix.

Thanks for your support.

@BillyfromConsett, I'm really glad to hear that and I'm sure you will find some use for the battery later on, in case it needs to be exchanged.

Thank you so much for the update and I hope that everything will work from here on out! Slightly_smiling_Face

I'm having the same issue. I've tried everything, nothing is working to fix this problem. Problem only started recently. I think it's something Sony should be looking into and actually do something about it.  my screenshot shows battery was at about 60% then shut the phone off.
