Z3 Compact - Not charging - Battery Issue

About 3 weeks ago my Z3-Compact stopped charging. I didn't even notice that it had stopped charging until it was down to about 20% battery. I tried various things to get it to charge but nothing worked and eventually the phone ran out of battery completely. I thought it was a minor issue with an easy/obvious fix online since my phone was never dropped, didn't have water damage and has always been inside a protective case.

I searched online for possible solutions and found out that many people are having the same problem. I plugged my phone into the wall charger and my phone would get to 1% charge, attempt to start/boot but immediately shut down after booting up because the battery would go to 0%. Then it'd charge again to 1% and do the same thing over and over again. The PC wouldn't even detect the phone, even with different cables. I tried pressing volume up, volume down, off button etc, for various lenghts of time. Took sim card out and tried to see if that'd work. Ofcourse, tried many different chargers, even tried a portable charger to see if that'd work. Nothing worked.

Finally I decided that I have to send this in to sony care for a repair. I chatted with somoene at Sony and after suggesting a few other things they also told me to send it for repair. As per the associate's instruction, I tried to do a repair/reset through PC companion, even though the phone wasn't even detected by my laptop and wasn't 80% charged for the repair to work. The repair process started after a few attempts and finally the repair finished. Now my phone would boot up but show a weird circle looking thing and said something like, repair not completed or something. I thought now I am really screwed because I have lost ALL contacts and data and my phone is still not starting.

I borrowed a different phone from someone and got ready to send mine for a repair. Sony said it'd take 14 days after the receipt (repair center is in Houston) for them to diagnose it and I don't know how much it'd cost or how long it'd take to fix the phone after diagnosis. Anyway, I used the replacement phone for a few days while the Z3 just sat around. Finally, last night, just out of curiosity, I plugged in the Z3 into the wall charger and went to sleep. I woke up and saw the green light was on and sure enough the phone was fully charged to 100%!

Great! I thought somehow the phone fixed itself and my ordeal is over. Sadly, throughout the day the phone kept losing battery power (normally) and wouldn't charge. I tried USB, portable charger, laptop, wall charger etc. No luck. it's like exactly what happened to start this mess weeks ago. So the problem still persists. As I write this, I have 46% battery, I have turned off the phone and plugged it into the wall charger, hoping it'd do what it did last night and charge to 100%.

If there is anyone who had a similar problem. Please, suggest something. Lots of people are having the same or similar issues with battery and no one seems to have a solution. I'd greatly appreciate any help.

Thanks (for reading this whole thing) Slightly_smiling_Face

Hi,

I'm sorry to hear this.
Unfortunately, if you have tried all the things that you mention without success, it's not much more that you can do on your own. I think you would do best by submitting your phone into the service center so a technician can examine your phone.
