z1 compact. Screen won't turn on

Recently updated to Lollipop OS. My problem is my screen won't turn on automatically when there is new messages/ notifation. I had to hit power button to view notifications. Except for downloading notification app, which helps drain my battery, any solution?

That's not how android work, the screen won't turn on when you receive a notification unless you use a third party app.

Which messaging app were you using? perhaps you had a different lock screen app? notification app? etc but the screen doesn't turn on when you get a message, the notification LED will turn on.

I used the stock messaging app from sony, not installed any lock screen app, no notification app either and yet LED is on.

I just downloaded notification app when i noticed this problem.

Let me understand this, because your first post said that your phone used to turn on the "screen" when you received a notification, the phone didn't, the only way to do this is through a third party app. 

Now you are saying that the issue is the notification LED that its not turning on? do you have the phone on stamina mode? silent mode?

The issue is my screen wont turn on when new notification arrived. LED is working fine. So, instead of hitting the power button just to turn on the screen, i now downloaded a third party app which enables screen turn on when new theres new notification.

Again, the Xperias or Android don't support this feature, iphone do, now, with that said, you need a third party app to do so.

Anytime
