Xperia Z5 Premium fingerprint scanner issues

Hi there,

I've been having issues with my fingerprint scanner since the second day I've had the phone, I googled it and saw that this problem wasnt mine alone, so i simply waited for a software update to fix it.

It's been 7 months and I cant find any new news on this.

So my issue is that it basically works when it wants too, I've already contacted Sony but they just sent me the generic responce, "Do a factory reset", which didnt help. Now they are telling me to do a software repair, before I waste more time and data doing this generic responce crap, I'd like to know if it has actually solved the issue for anyone ?

What I've done for now is use all 5 fingerprint slots to save my thumb, It has helped alot but it still only works around 60% of the time.

Is this by any chance a hardware issue ?

I've been through it all and have got the exact same issue still. You have to wipe the sensor clean, just like the light sensor and the rear cam after holding it in landscape mode, or the fingerprints from before seem to be read by the scanner the same time your thumb is being scanned.
This causes the phone not to recognize your print. It's really frustrating at times when it needs to be fast.

Solution for fingerprint issues with my Xperia Z5!

Here my Workaround:

I activate Sony Movie Creator again and update to latest version in Google Play Store

After reboot always works fine with Android Nougat 7.1.1

Now Fingerprinthardware works again and menu entry appears in settings (display & security) !

I developed the same problem about 1 year into use and now the sensor does not work at all.
