Xperia Z5 Compact Echo issue - Nougat

Hi,

I have an Xperia Z5 Compact and have the problem where an echo is heard by the other caller/receiver each time. Has anyone with this problem upgraded their phone to Nougat and has this version fixed the echo problem.

Can this problem be fixed by software or is it a hardware fix?

Any help will be appreciated.

Hi MorakiI have also carried out tests but still get this Echo issue on my Xperia Z5.

  • Different replacing sim cards with EE provider
  • Microphone diagnostic
  • Using different preferred network

Did you manage to get your fixed? If yes, what was your solution then...

Hello again @zagoo2000,

Since you experience the same behaviour when using different network types, the next step is to perform the software repair and if that doesn't help, your phone will need to be examined by a trained technician.

My phone has had poor call quality for the past couple of weeks. Callers or people i call cant hear me properly because of the echo.  Ive done everything suggested in forums but no change

Hi Jonas, i have now completed the software repair as you advised. Sadly, after startup when i made the first call it still had the echo issue.

I think my phone is under warranty. I might just send it back. Really disappointed 😕

I'm sorry to hear that. Slightly_frowning_Face

In this case I'm afraid that my only advice is to have the phone examined at an authorized service centre.

Your Local support team will assist you further and they will also answer any questions that you may have regarding warranty and local service routines.

Feel free to keep me updated!

Me, and two of my friends have same echo problem, we all have z5 compact. I heart that over 50% users of this model over the whole world have same issue. Its shame that sony want admit mistake. Its hardver issue and all of you with same issue must change your microphone.

Hi @Sensi, sorry to hear about your and your friends devices. Slightly_frowning_Face

Have you and your friends had the microphones replaced and it is working normally now without the echo during calls?

The echo can be caused by a few different things, such as hardware, but it can also be related to the network, therefor the troubleshooting can be quite long as there are a lot of different things to try, which I understand can be very frustrating.

I hope that everything worked out for you and your friends and have a great day! Slightly_smiling_Face

same her. same phone - same problem.  Im quite disapointed since the phone was not cheap. I have tried everything suggested - nothing works. I dont want to have it fixed by authorized dealer since it will probably cost more than a new phone.

My only solution is to have it on loud speaker all the time - so i can not talk anywhere outside my house, unless i want all to listen in.

Hi same problem here since day 1, which was a few months ago. Tried all your suggestions, removing apps, changing network and all but nothing changed. It works fine only with the headset on.

Given how many people experience this trouble Sony should recall the product and send a new one. Like other people this is not a phone we can do without for weeks during repairs, it's a business-purpose phone.

Very disappointed.

I guess Sony is not looking forward to receiving a class action on this.

Hi @mbonvin, sorry to hear about this. Slightly_frowning_Face

Have you tried the other troubleshooting that I have suggested in this thread? If you haven't done that, please do and let me know if that helped.

Regarding replacing your device, that is not something that I can do and you will to either get in touch with your retailer, or the Local support team in your market as I'm not informed about consumer laws and so forth in all markets as I work Globally.

Keep me posted!
