Xperia Z3 Compact Wifi Authentication problem

I just purchased the xperia z3 compact and am having issues connecting to wifi. It iinitally connects but then it says 'Authentication problem'. The password is correct and I don't have this problem with any other device. I need a solution that doesn't involve having to access the router. Does anybody know how to fix this?

Thanks.

I've a similar problem to the OP.

My 6 month old sony xperia compact has been great but suddenly i get 'authentification problem' with my wifi. Only at home. The laptop still connects fine. I've checked the passwords are ok. Any ideas? the phone still connects to wifi elsewhere. It's pretty annoying.

I suspect it started after the upgrade to the latest firmware?

Sorry to hear that.

We got a few reports of issues with WiFi and we are looking into this. But if it happens with a specific network only i also recommend that you check my previous posts in this thread. Have you used your Google account in any other Android device? It's possible that incorrect setting have been restored from a Google backup which can cause this issue.

Just chiming in to say that I have seen this since the recent update as well.  I have reset wifi settings and disabled Google backup & sync, with no change.  Some access points that worked before the update, like those at my work, simply won't connect [the AP just says "saved" in wifi settings, or occasionaly "authentication problem"].  And frequently when I come home, my home AP will be listed as "disabled," and then if I manually ask it to connect, it works fine.

Something definitely changed in the latest update.

Hi Everyone,

I experience the same trouble with the wifi on my z3 compact sinci I upgrade to lolipop. The wifi connection works fine at my home. It does not work at my office, the phone says "save" and then "Authentification failed" (or something like that...). By the way, with my previous xperia Go, I was connected to my office wifi (and I used my google acount..), so maybe I have the problem mentionned previously about the seting which have probably been stored into my google  acount. I tried to find something, but I did not find anything.

Thanks to Sony to fix this bug (probably due to lolipop) quickly because I use this phone for my work and I need the wifi at the office.

Best regards

peter

I am still having problem even using Bridge for Mac, resetting the phone without checking the Backup and Restore option.

Every morning I wake up the Wifi is disconnected with the message "Authentication Problem".

Is there any fix for this?

Hi All just got my phone and had the same issue tried everything posted all over the web strange thing was when i turned the

Wi-Fi security off it connected but i was not willing to leave myself open to attacks.

After hours of reseting the phone the router and trying loads of different configurations i noticed something on the phone

while looking for the Mac address i went to advanced on the wi-fi screen (on the phone) and selected the Auto IP support

Right down at the bottom and what do you know I am now connected go figure hope this helps others with this issue.

I had similar problem, my phone had a little problem with authentication and regular disconnecting from wifi. I tried many things like hard reset, software update, router software update etc. even I came back from Marshmallow to Lollipop for a while, but nothing helped me. The solution turned out to be channel in my router. I changed it to 3 after that to 13 - but my phone works only with default channels like 6 or 8. After change my wifi get back to life and now work perfectly. Try it in your case Slightly_smiling_Face

Channel - This field determines which operating frequency will be used. It is not necessary to change the wireless channel unless you notice interference problems with another nearby access point.

Hi Rickard,

I'm adding to this post because my problem is similar, except that: every time I restart my phone (power off and back on) it asks me to 'authenticate' with my Google password. That is fine, except that I have to be in a wifi environment to be able to do that. If I'm out of wifi, it will be 'loading' for ever and I can't use my phone any more.. until I find a hotspot.

This is new. I didn't use to have that before, so maybe it's something I did. I hope you can help. Thanks!
