Since I installed the last update people have been saying how poor the call quality is at their end.
To test it was the phone and not the network I put my sim in my iPhone 5s and used that for a week and had no complaints.
I ran the repair utility and then put my sim back in the Xperia Z2 to test it out. Upon inserting the Sim, the phone restarts but never detects that there is a sim in the handset. If i remove it, it says sim removed, restarting etc but never detects that the sim is in the phone.
The Sim is fine as it is back in theiPhone 5s and working. I had to use an adapter for the sim and i'm starting to think it may have damaged the inside of the sim tray.
Any one had any similar problems?
*Major Update*
So my final throw of the dice was to email Gary Acors who is the Customer Service Manager at Sony Mobile Communications. I emailed him on Sunday morning and detailed the whole ordeal. I entered all the call logs etc and to my amazement he emailed me back at almost 10pm on Sunday evening.
He apologised and thanked me for highlighting this issue to him. He assured me I would have a resolution by close of play the next day. I received a phone call from the Xperia team who apologised for the poor service I received and promised to send a new Xperia Z2 Boxed Complete with all accessories to close the matter.
I accepted the offer and yesterday my brand new boxed Sony Xperia Z2 arrived as promised. I am so happy this is finally resolved, I also hope that they look at this case and improve the processes that are failing.
Just glad I can now get shot of me iPhone and back to the Z2.
Cheers for everyone that offered advice throughout the thread.
Great outcome! Let's hope this one is OK.
i had the same exact issue as you. It took nearly over a month with constant calling and no replies or emails back. But they finally agreed to send me a new one just in black when my original phone is white. Im just scared to use it now what if the sim card reader in the phone breaks again just by inserting a sim card.
Im having the same problem with my z2 in sweden. The store says that i've caused the problem when they're the ones who put the sim card in the phone for me. They say that it will cost 2500 swedish kronor to repair.
I wish you all luck. My Sony has been the biggest piece of junk i have ever owned. Sony Support has not been helpful at all. I have had my phone sent in 2 times and both times it comes back and still not repaired.. I sent it in because it works only in Sask,,, I cross into the USA and I get no service, or it asks for a sim unlock pin, We have replaced pin 5 times and still the same,,, now I take the sim out and put it into my Blackberry and all works great there,, back to Z2 and nothing. I even moved to within 100 feet of rower and still no reception ,, I have got nothing but run around with my problem,, all i get from Sony is send the phone in for service,,, well I think being sent in 2 times now in 5 months and each time it takes 4 weeks is crazy. SO if I do like they ask it will be another 30 days in service and it wont work. Sony sent me a program to try and the way he told me to do it, it cant work as it needs the phone to hook up to it.
What a waste of money,, I have a 650.00 paperweight now as what good is a phone that wont work in the USA when I go there probably 6 or more days every month. I would not recommend anyone buy a sony product as Sony dont care about its customers,,, all they want is your money and after that **bleep** off.
I will say a 2 year old blackberry is years ahead of this sony z2 what a joke SOny has turned into
thanks for the title 1 time poster,,,, what a joke that is. Whats wrong ,,Sony cant take any criticism about their products? IF the phone dont work then you have to expect it. Ome day maybe years down the road Sony may once again be a good product, but in my opinion, its far from it
Since Sony cant fix the problem ,, I decided to just get rid of the phone,,, sold it for 50.00 being its good for only 1 province in Canada, I figured I did good,, bought it for 650.00 in Sept 2014 and today i got 50.00. Dam SOny phones keep their value well
very interesting read, am appaled at their poor service, am currenty having the same issue with them. out of interest how did you obtain Gary Acors email address as i think this is the only slution i have left. Many thanks Sean
