Xperia Z2 Android version update

Hi everybody, I am in France, and I recently bought two Xperia Z2 devices : smartphone and tablet.

Both are rather fine (if I except poor battery performance and SD Card access problems).

I use to always have the latest OS version installed.

On the Sony "Xperia Z2 software updates" page, I read :

Android version: Google Android 4.4 (Kitkat)

Latest available software: 17.1.2.A.0.314

Release started: 2014-07-18 .

On my smartphone :

Settings > About phone > Build number / version,

Model : D6503

Android version : 4.4.2

Build # : 17.1.1.A.0.402

The Sony website version is undoubtedly more recent, but I have a message on my phone saying that the latest version is installed.

Is it correct, (maybe because I am in France) or do I have to update it with PC Companion ?

I really would like to correct the two recurrent problems of my 4.4.2 version : battery performance and moving applications from internal memory to SD card.(But which Kit Kat version will correct that ?)

Regards,

Jean-Louis

This morning, I received a notification about an Android version update.

I downloaded and installed it, and now, my version is 17.1.2.A.0.314, the same as on Sony web page.

As I am a new Sony owner / user, I am glad to note that Sony really updates its OS.

On my precedent phone (not Sony), and during the 3 1/2 years I used it, the Android version was never updated.

Many thanks for your help.

Regards,

Jean-Louis

You can manually flash another countries firmware however to answer your question - Before generic hansets get the update the networks have to all authorise the update, I'm not saying they have to release the update but they do have to authorise it - Then Sony will be authorised to release it to generic devices

You should try PC Companion first.

Yes. Try pc companion first. Some updates are not ota and you must connect to pc companion in order to download the update.
