Xperia Keyboard Capitalization

Xperia Keyboard Capitalization

Hi,

I just searched the forum on how to turn off auto-capitalization on the xperia keyboard, and found that it is not possible.

DESPITE the facetious personalization setting "I never want to have my letters replaced", the keyboard insists on capitalizing wrongly after periods "." In sentences. <- See how stupid this looks?

Also, the fact that swipe-writing works really well, unless it interprets a long word wrongly and there is NO WAY to remove the incorrect guess than manually backspacing every letter is bloddy ridiculous.

I know that nobody even remotely responsible for this product will ever read this feedback, let alone create any form of trouble ticket or bug report from it.

'm aware that after buying this more or less marvelous mobile phone, I'm left alone in the desert of consumerism, with the option of ditching it and buying a follow-up model, or moving to a stupid iPhone. But why? Why must it be this way, why must you insult me and abuse my trust, if you could just hire one (1!) underpaid intern to test the thing? Just have them go through all the apps for a couple of days, write an email, SMS, some passive-aggressive reviews on the play store: Voila!

But no, I am left to feel like a complete idiot when writing my messages, with the option of buying a custom keyboard, just to be annoyed by other shortcomings in the end.

Hello @tobemayr and welcome to the forum!

I've had a look in an updated Xperia Z3 Compact and as far as I know there isn't any setting to disable that the first letter in every sentence should be started with a capital letter. I'll be happy to forward this as user feedback if you'd like.

But as @nolramlb mentions there are lots of ways to customize your Android phone. Slightly_smiling_Face A friend of mine uses the Google keyboard (which is free to download on Google Play) and sent me the image you see below.

The screenshot above is from the Google Keyboard settings, if this setting is what you are looking for then this app might suit you. Do note, however, that since this is a third party application and that for help with app-specific settings you will need to contact the developer of the app.

Let me know if this helped!

One of the best things of android is that you can customise it,. if you are uncomfortable with the stock keyboard then you can disable it and download another one on Google Play store,. but if you think you would be annoyed by every shortcomings of each then no keyboard would be suited for you.
