Update made screen icons fail

Just ran an update on my phone, and now the apps don't work. Some of the icons have change and can not be found. Is this normal? I wouldn't have bothered updating if I knew it would disable the apps, and decrease performance. Any help gratefully received.

That happens if the apps were moved to your external memory. Clear data for xperia home under settings-apps-all to remove any broken shortcuts and you need to download the apps again. It has been answered many times.
