Text message notification bubble not appearing on home screen.

There used to be a bubble showing number of new texts coming out of the messaging icon on the home screen, but it has stopped appearing. Stamina mode is not switched on. Any ideas?

Are you talking about the default message app? Or facebook messenger?

I mean the default SMS message app.

Try settings-apps-all-messages,force stop and clear data. Backup your messages first.

Do you have Hangouts or other messenger set as default SMS service?

Have you changed the Homescreen to a custom one? If you have and it stopped right after this, than this is going to be missing coding from the custom Homescreen.

That must be it! Thanks. I'm using the Google Now homescreen; didn't think that would break anything. I do like it, though, so I think I'll keep it and live without the notifications.
