Tethering/hotspot problem with Z3 after Lollipop update (23.1.A.0.690)

Since doing the update, I can no longer share my Internet connection with a computer, using a Wi-Fi hotspot or direct connection (USB tethering).

In both cases, I can still set it up and my Mac connects via Wi-Fi (but with 'Internet unreachable') or USB (red in Network settings) - even though I have a working connection that I can use fine on the phone itself.

It worked fine with Kitkat and the APN settings are unchanged.

At least one other person on Xda-developers has confirmed the same problem so far, and I suspect a lot of other people may not be aware as yet, or have not even realised the problem lies with the phone and not their data connection. Suffice to say, I am sure many more people will be noticing this in the coming days/weeks.

To give further information, I am on Three (UK) with the One Plan that offers unlimited tethering.

Hello i have Sony Xperia z3 on three network i just updated my z3 to lollipop and its hotspot tethering not working whenever i tap to on it say ( hotspot tethering)
Kindly help me,out how to fix what to do???

That has been asked before, contact your carrier network as must likely they have blocked this feature

I solved the problem by first going into wireless and network settings then going to the bottom and clicking on internet settings where the phone then downloads its settings. Then I went into mobile networks and then access point names and in the top right is the menu icon which gives you the other to reset to default. After doing this an additional APN came up for 3 Hotspot.

Then went out and turned my hotspot on and its worked fine since. 

Believe the problem is that the internet settings get deleted during the update and you need to redownload them and reset your APN's for it to work.

i'm now waiting for the 5.1.1 update to roll out , if any issues happen like this least we know how to fix it fir the teathering

Same problem here! I have use another phone in order to tether my connection!

Bring back 4.4.4 I hate the 5.0.2 who said that new is always better!

Bad news if it means we're going to see more Android devices coming that restrict/block tethering, but of course that's what the networks want - or at least to be able to tightly control it, and charge extra in some cases.
