Tethering/hotspot problem with Z3 after Lollipop update (23.1.A.0.690)

Since doing the update, I can no longer share my Internet connection with a computer, using a Wi-Fi hotspot or direct connection (USB tethering).

In both cases, I can still set it up and my Mac connects via Wi-Fi (but with 'Internet unreachable') or USB (red in Network settings) - even though I have a working connection that I can use fine on the phone itself.

It worked fine with Kitkat and the APN settings are unchanged.

At least one other person on Xda-developers has confirmed the same problem so far, and I suspect a lot of other people may not be aware as yet, or have not even realised the problem lies with the phone and not their data connection. Suffice to say, I am sure many more people will be noticing this in the coming days/weeks.

To give further information, I am on Three (UK) with the One Plan that offers unlimited tethering.

So, I just finally got a chance to read all 11 pages. I'm not sure which way I should go. I feel I'm not comfortable or knowledgeable to do a flashback. The other option is rebooting my apn settings. If it doesn't work, does that mean I would have to do a factory reinstall again after? Or if say, I'm with Fido, I just put in their apn settings for that?
I guess the third option is to wait for a new update as well. Decisions, decisions, decisions....

@AK1981.Do a repair using pc companion. I have flashed about 8 Z3's n compacts from customised UK to 3 UK firmware. Before the 28 update.They all tether correctly.They still all tether after the 28 update.So do your repair and when finished do not touch the internet settings.They are built into the firmware you have

my xperia z mobile cannot share the internet connection thru hotspot function. Although my xperia z3 tablet compact can connect to the wifi but cannot get access to the Internet. "Tethering error occurs" was shown when I turned on the hotspot.
please help. It functioned well before the update

I also have same issue with my Xperia Z. Anyone have any fix, temporary fix for this? Please tell me.

I fixed it on my Xperia Z3. Here's how. Go to Settings, and in the Wireless and Networks group, press More. Scroll all the way down to the bottom, and press Mobile Networks, then Access Point Names. In the pull down menu in the upper right corner, select Rest to Default. When it asks if you really want to do this, say yes. When you see the confirmation that it was done reboot your phone. Fixed.

It's also a good idea to delete the cache partition after the upgrade to Lollipop (not related to this bug). With the phone on, hold the power button and volume up until you feel three vibrations. That's it, cache cleared. Turn your phone back on.

I have the same problem with my xperia Z2 (update 23.1.A.1.28). I have tried reset the apn to default then download internet and MMS setting, but the tethering still doesn't work. Please help me.

This worked for me. Thanks. I'm using a Z1 on the Irish 3.ie network.
