Sony Z3 camera module compatibility with Z1 AND Z2?

Hi!

I want to know are camera modules on sony Z1,Z2 AND Z3 same? Can i buy sony z1 camera module and put it in sony z2 or sony z3?

Or vice versa?

Its little weird that nobody tried this before. 

I dont see a reason why sony z3 cannot accept sony z2 camera module?

They are identical, atleast on pictures that i found on internet. They have same number of pins and same connector. Those camera modules have same specs in every way.

Main reason for this question is that sony z2 camera module is twice cheaper, but they are same, atleast what i can see.

I believe Z1&2 are the same but Z3 is different.

However, revisions of hardware are subject to change so I cannot say for certain 100%

Even MX2XX sensors evolved over time with various housings and connections as the phones were made thinner.

Z1&2 used IMX220

Z3 used IMX220 with newer lens array =25mm

Your best bet is to contact Local support to clarify

Here are specs i found:

Sony Z1  -  20.7 MP, f/2.0, Focal length 27mm ,    1/2.3" sensor size  ,Pixel size   ?  μm

Sony Z2  - 20.7 MP, f/2.0,  Focal length 27mm,    1/2.3" sensor size  ,Pixel size 1.12 μm

Sony Z3  - 20.7 MP, f/2.0, Focal length 25mm,     1/2.3" sensor size   ,Pixel size 1.12 μm

I wouldn't recommend it.

Z3 is a different module partly due to the fact the housing is thinner to fit in the thinner Z3

@nolramlb's post refers to two identical cameras released at the same time on the same series X device (Z1/Z1c etc).
