Sony Xperia Z5 Compact has an echo when making calls

Hi,

I have a brand new Sony Xperia Z5 Compact,
when I make/receive calls, the person at the other end has an echo from my phone.
THIS is not the case using a bluetooth device to make the calls with.

Please advice what to do ?

Infomation about the phone :
Modelnumber    : E5823
Android version : 5.1.1
Kernelsystem    : 3.10.49-perf-g83fc9bc
Versionnumber : 32.0.A.6.152

Best regards
Jan

Same issue with my z5 compact as everyone here.

Just tried calling via whatsapp and there is no echo whatsoever. Tried with 3 different phones and none reported an echo.

Sadly I have unwittingly joined some unhappy Z5C owners. I purchased my phone new on the 14th July (about 5 weeks ago). Firstly I was assured of the international warranty at purchase (in UK) only to find out that the Australia/New Zealand branch of Sony refuse to touch it and say 'send it back to where you bought it from' Really! Send it back to the UK!

Secondly, my phone has the same serious echo problem as mentioned elsewhere in these pages. Sonymobile suggested all the same things as mentioned before ... software reset, check microphone, etc ... but nothing other than turning down the volume to a minimum alleviates but doesn't stop the problem.

Can anyone tell me the best way to fix this? I don't want to be without my phone for 4 - 5 weeks whilst it's airfreighted to England for repair, which quite easily could be done here in Australia.

I sent my phone 4 times this year for a service - they are reinstalling/reflashing everything, the phone works OK for a week at maximum and than the problem is back. So a software solution will not work.

It looks several persons managed to solve the problem by replacing the micrphone.

I suggest you push people from support service to do this or ask directly for a phone replacment.

The bad thing is people from service are not using the phone like a normal person and the problem does not exists for them.

On the other side there is no offical notice from SONY for a defective release.

In my case after 10 months of service and back my only option was to wrote down a complain and I'm now in a procudure to sue the mobile vendor "M-Ttel" in Bulgaria for not beeing able to repair the device.

Hi,

I bought my Z5c yesterday and have same issue. There is a solution to this problem?

Hey Sony,

Can you give us the answer and solution to the problem, which is presented here? Once you have been synonymous with quality and responsibility, now you do not give answers to simple questions. Do you really have to end up with a class action against you because you do not take responsibility for their own devices ?!

Same problem here, just received a new Z5C via insurance after I stupidly dropped and damaged my original. The previous phone had no problem, this new one is awful with everyone complaining they get a horrendous echo their end. Get it sorted Sony!

Can anyone confirm that this can be solved with a mic replacement ? Any details on the identification of the spare parts required ?

I already replaced the screen of my z5c and the battery of my former z1c so I feel ready for some DIY solution...

I'm nearly convinced I should buy a new phone just because of this issue.
