Sony Xperia Z5 Compact Android 7.0 Nougat: Can't install or update Facebook or Messanger (Error 505)

Hello,

I have the same problem described here https://www.reddit.com/r/SonyXperia/comments/5va768/z5c_cant_install_facebook_or_messenger_on_nougat... . After update my Sony Xperia Z5 Compact to Android 7.0 (Nougat) I can't update my Facebook, Messanger or Site Manager App form Facebook. My girlfriend, same smartphone and android version, have the same problem. I tried to clear Playstore Cache, reboot, re-enable com.facebook.appmanager and com.facebook.system - nothing works. I also tried to make a fresh reinstall of these apps, but also error 505 - so I'm unable to install Facebook, Messanger etc anymore too.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Official answer from sony: Make a factory reset. Beause I don't think facebook or sony will change the problem with an update (both companies contacted) I reset my smartphone - it needs hours to configure all apps as before.. This is was not the espected reaction to a problem many users get by an update from sony. I think my next device wouldn't be any more a sony...

The sony restoring function don't save the most apps in my case. Google news, Paypal, Whatsapp and many more have to installed again from playstore.

My advice is to use a browser. Is better for battery life. Just force desktop mode on any browser, and then reenter the address for Facebook and make sure it's not m.facebook.com

Then just bookmark it.

I don't have any other solutions to your problem because I use Facebook via the browser. This lets me filter crappy Facebook ads aswell as blanket banning kim Kardashian.

I didn't like Facebook taking up 300mb off internal

Hello! I have this same problem. I uninstalled facebook and messenger and now I cant install them again. I would really need this thing fixed asap. Im using Z5 Premium with 7.0 Nougat.

+1 for me. I also tried the usual tricks as you wrote, nothing helped. Finally I did a backup / factory reset / restore on the phone (z5c) then I was able to install fb. (BTW the xperia backup to SD card and restore worked quite good, a lot of my installed application were restored sucessfully with all settings.)

Nevertheless I spent a total of 2-3 hours to solve this fb+messenger problem. Slightly_frowning_Face

Hi everyone

I have the same issue on my Xperia Z5 dual

After nougat 7.0 update, can't update Facebook app, download ends in Google play but install can't be done it displays 505 error

Same thing with Messenger

I tried to install from apk but the same error occurs

I think that's affecting all Z5 handset with nougat

The solution is factory reset it will roll back Facebook app but can't install messenger

Hope Sony will fix it very soonScreenshot_20170403-092045.png
