Hi,
Am using Sony Xperia Z1 Compact, when i connected it today to my laptop i got a notification for new software, i was asked to unplug the device so the computer will download the update which i did.
After 30 minutes i got asked to connect again my device again which i did, but then Sony PC Companion start giving me a message that am not connected to the internet when am 100% sure that am already connected to the internet, i press couple of times "retry" to check the internet connectivity but nothing changed, Sony PC Companion can't see me connected to the internet (i dont know why i need to connect to the internet as long as the update file is already been downloaded, and it should only be sent from my laptop to my device).
However, i can't do anything more, so i click on "cancel" which abort the update, but then i looked at my device and it's off, which i click on power button it vibert but nothing happens not even a light, when i click power and volume up nothing happens at all, which i click power and volume down it vibert but no light and nothing happens, just keep viberating.
what did happen to my device?
I need an urgent help as am traveling.

i solved the issue, it seems that Windows 8 comes with blocking Sony PC Companion.
so the solution is to go to windows firewall "Allow apps to communicate through Windows Firewall", Click on "Change Settings" then Click on "Allow another app" and go to the following directory "C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony\Sony PC Companion" and open "PCCompanion.exe" file, then close the firewall window, run Sony PC Companion again and perform the update normally.

Try performing a system repair as this will often fix issues after an upgrade - This will factory reset your phone
Switch off your phone and unplug from Pc (Hold volume up and power for around 10 seconds)
Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the onscreen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process
If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP

thanks for the respond but it seems you didnt read my messge fully.
1st- i cant switch off my phone becuase it's already off.
2nd- i said i already pressed power and volume up and nothing happened.
3rd- since the device is off and it cant work, then when i connect it to my PC Sony PC Companion cant find the device.
so how would i perform the repair?

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
When you perform this software repair, the phone should not be connected to the computer from the start. The phone should also be powered off while doing this repair so give it a try by following Thommos instructions in PC Companion.

i dont know how my PC will recognize that my mobile is connected while it's off.
however, i did connect my mobile (whilte it's off), start the Sony PC companion, go to support zone, software update, and then i got this meesage "PC companion was not able to connect to the phone/tavlet. please disconnect again."
so what did happen?

But the phone should not be connected as I said above. And it sounds like you are pressing at the "Connect" button when you press at Start on updating the phones software.
Do the following steps:
Disconnect the phone > In PC Companion you press start on Support Zone > Start on Update the phone/tablet software > Repair phone/tablet (the blue clickable link in the message) > Follow these steps without having your phone connected to the PC.
Follow the instruction that appears in the program and do not connect your device until this guide tells you how to connect it.
When asked to connect your device you must hold volume down and then whilst holding down the volume down key connect your USB cable - This will then enter your phone into Flashmode which is needed to perform an upgrade or in this case a repair

i followed the instruction and the device is been detected and i continued in upgrade/update my device, but yet i got the same issue again, no internet connection, but as you see i do have internet and i am updating the forum.
i keep pressing on retry but its the same thing.
Note: that the first time i got this internet issue and the second time (now) i am in a different location using different internet access.
it seems that the Flash ROM file is corrupted from Sony server or its a sony connection issue, and nothing to do with my device nor my cable nor my internet.
so what is the issue now?

This could be caused by your Anti virus or something else which appears to be blocking your connection - I can only advise that you either keep trying which you appear to be doing or try using a friends or family members Pc
