Why did you remove new feature of Marshmallow android to format SD card as internal storage?
Anyway...
Here is a way to enable this feature using ADB. Read all carefully, the guide is for Galaxy S7, but it's the same for any phone running MM.
I just did this and it works fine. But I don't recommend you doing this:
- I couldn't see the card as a 2nd internal memory when connecting it to a PC.
- The extSD assumes a main role for installations. (All Play Store install go directly to the extSD card, then you need to move each app to the another external storage
You could see more info about how this work here.
The good thing is that the Sony MM gives you the option to "Format as Portable", so you can rollback your SD from private to public without using ADB.
If you really need space and you don't care about performance. Then know that you have this option hidden and you can enable it with ADB Shell (no root, no bootloader unlock required).
But this is more for low end devices with short internal memory.
Hello
would u have new dates on teh release of Marshmallow?
can u confirm it'll include adoptable storage?
Just bought 64Gb cards to start installing more games
moving to SD card in Lollipo just doesn't seem to move enough data and keeps complaining on the Internal mem being full

Hi,
I desperately wait for Marshmallow on the M4 because of the "format SD card as internal storage" option.
But now I heard that Sony didn't include that in the Marshmallow version for the Z5.
It might be ok for the Z5 but how is it plannes for the M4?
This is the most important feature of Marshmallow especially for a device that has so little free memory like the M4 has.
Please implement this feature !!! It's already included from Google so please take over this very badly needed feature !!!!!!!
Thanks,
andre
I really hope, that Sony put that feature back in MM 6.0.1. I have a 128GB class 10 SD for my 4k Video's, so i wanted to format it into intermal storage and ......... no option to do so. That's just don't seem right to me. It should be enabled and if i want to do it, i byu a fast sd card. My Navigon eat's 2GB only with it maps. Then the others apps, the music, the videos, the fotos, etc. i dont have enouth internal space. I banned Navigon on the sd ok lollipop and now i must reinstall it and put the maps back on the internal storage because of MM? That's just crap.
i cannot set my sd card as internal storage it just don't give an option to do it and if i go to Setting/Storage/Apps/ and select app and try to move it on sd card it just "not enough space in sd" and in notification message pop up saying photo, video and music transfer anly and my sd is 64 gb ( Xperia Z5 Bell Canada ).
Hi!
I have read that with the Marshmallow update it could be possible to use the memory space that way that the phone "thinks" that your memory card is part of the internal memory and combines them. In the end, you have one big memory space.
Have I understood correctly? If so, how to achieve it? My memory card should be very fast, or so the package told, anyway. The phone is Z5 Compact.
Thanks beforehand for all the answers, and have a nice Sunday, everyone!
this feature has been removed from the update not just sony's but other manufacturers aswell
I'm tempted to root the phone now
